Planning a first time tenting trip-opinions needed!!

Hi!!

My family (Me, DH, DD 15 and DD 10) has fallen for the beauty and tranquility of the Fort and we're looking at planning a trip for next year!! We'd like to do 7-10 nights, planning on 2 tents with partial hook up. Can anyone who has tented at FW give me some pointers, advice, pictures...ANYTHING??

I saw some pics someone had on You Tube where they had fans and TV in their tent...anyone else do that? I know thats kind of the opposite of tranquility but sometimes with two kids, a little diversion can be a good thing.

One more thing, how is tenting at FW in January? Whats the temp like? How does it copmpare to May?

I haven't camped at the Fort, yet. (We leave in 20 days) But we do tent camp frequently. We always bring a fan and small heater on trips. We've had too many week-long storms leave us with humid tents. We don't bring a TV, but we do have the laptop stashed in the van in case the kids HAVE to have a movie (or in case the grown ups HAVE to have some quiet kids ).

We did this when I was a kid. My Dad got up in the middle of the night and made the heater blow under our cots because we were so cold.LOL(NOT recommending anyone do this heater trick). I love the Fort. Just bring a power strip if you want your TV, coffee pot,toaster, etc. I know it's very un-camping to do that, but this is Disney and it's not any worse than using a camper!

I don't have any good photos of it, but we brought a window AC to put in a tent that we had on our site along with our travel trailer. Our oldest, 16 at the time, brought a friend and they stayed in the tent in August so AC was a must.

They also had a power strip for charging cell phones and I think they had a work light in there. You will find it to be a great camping place, but after just spending only one night on a thin camping pad, I would recommend a cot for that length of time (or air mattress). My tired old bones are still sore.

I reccomend a dry run - try camping somewhere locally tto work out the bugs - then hit the fort. We are headed for our first tent stay in a few weeks - Im going to make sure and post lots of pictures for other tent minded people.

January will be cold most likely. I would bring a couple of extension cords and power strips and use heaters or electric blankets. May is gorgeous, but bring a fan, if not just for background noise.
