A girlfriend of mine did a book theme several years ago. It was really neat. She didn't do the cake, or book centerpieces....I like those ideas, but do agree with others that the centerpieces could be removed.

How about Book boxes? That way folks could take them:

Also, if you have a table for children, I think it would be fun to scatter some comic books.

ETA: could you make the name cards look like library cards?

I also really like the book centerpieces-- since you plan on grouping them by author, instead of numbering the tables, name them by the author. Escort cards can read something like "Mr. and Mrs. John Smith. Table Hemingway." It would be really fun for people to find their tables and discover the different authors you and your DH to be enjoy.

Congratulations on your marriage! Those are lovely pictures. I especially love the cake - it's adorable, and the bookmark is such a cute touch. What are the multi-colored flowers in your bouquet? I don't recognize them, and they are so striking and unusual.

Thank you! They were orchids that had been dyed. The dye travels slowly up the stem, so the result is that fading color effect. I was in love with our florist from Village Gardens. She truly was an artist. As were our cake people (Covenant Cakes in Independence for anyone from the area). All of our vendors were wonderful.

Wow! I never would have guessed they were dyed. I knew you could dye flowers but I've never heard of anyone doing that with orchids. I love the way the color fades - it's gorgeous. All the flowers are really beautiful.
