Is PH no longer associated with Disney?

We have a voucher for dining there as part of our package so it seems a little odd. Can anyone advise on this?

The reason I ask is; if you do a general 'open' search for dates for dining, PH appears at the bottom of the search results but with no availability?

Please don't say that PH is yet another restaurant/Disney facility that is closed for the summer? :worried:

PH has never been a Disney owned eatery. It's privately owned, but is at Disney. For that reason, the number of tables available to book through Disney are limited.

However, you can either call to get your table/reservation, or you can show up. PH is huge and unpopular, or at least, it has been every time I've been, and unless you're going at the height of a meal time on a weekend, a table with no or minimal wait should be no issue.

The vouchers (there should be two) are kind of proof to it's non-popularity... A $15 voucher with no minimum spending is almost unheard of. Last time we went, we got two appetizers and paid like $5 in tip and that was it.

I remember the one in Baltimore a decade ago and it was pretty good. Why do people not like it so much? Is it overpriced or simply that bad?

PH takes the dining plan if you're on it.

The food is good but the atmosphere can be very loud depending on where you're seated.

We have received Planet Hollywood vouchers for 5 years in a row and never used them. Tells you what we think of Planet Hollywood.

To paraphrase Woody Allen... the food isn't spectacular but at least the portions are large.

Be aware if you do go, it's LOUD. My poor dad cannot hear very well, we couldn't hold a conversation with him there, he just sat and enjoyed his mediocre food, while the rest of us screamed across the table at each other trying to talk.

If you have an Applebee's in your hometown that's recently failed a health inspection, go there and you can say you've also been to PH..

We stopped there for lunch on our last visit and had no complaints. Noise wasn't an issue because it wasn't too busy. Club sandwiches were good and we had a great server.

Planet Hollywood is DEFINITELY something you need to do at least once. The food is quite good but the atmosphere and all the movie memorabilia is phenomenal. It's a very fun experience and not nearly as outrageously expensive as a lot of the other places around.

It is expensive, it's niche, it's surrounded by a dozen better places to eat of similar or lesser price, and it's loud. For what it is, it's fine... But when you pay that much for food, you want to walk away with an impression better then "it was fine."

I only go because of the coupons. It's always dead, and it's one of those awkward dining experiences where you feel like everybody is staring at you, waiting for you to need something so they feel useful. The movie memorabilia is uber cool, but they let you see it and tour the place without dining there... And honestly, seeing the props outside and how poorly preserved and maintained they are... It depresses me. I get that "Edward Scissorhands" isn't a movie for the ages, but the topiaries look like hell and haven't been cared for well... It genuinely bothers me to see the lack of upkeep.

Thanks folks for your input. We have actually been before in the evening and yes it was busy, and loud, but my other half is a big movie fan so he loves the memorabilia. I was just wondering what was happening since it wasn't 'available' on the Disney site when pretty sure it has been before?

We found the food to be 'OK' - I think it's one of those places you go for the atmosphere and experience rather than the food. There are many better places to eat for food quality for sure!

Since Disney are sending us vouchers we thought we'd drop by for lunch!

Counting the days till our trip :woohoo:

We are hoping to be able to pick up our package perks (PH voucher, Disney Quest tickets, putt- putt tickets, etc) 2 days before our package date starts. We are planning on doing a split stay with 2 days at a Value with room only cm family discount, and then July 1-8 with a magic your way dining package with a big family. My mom and I are wanting to take my son down 2 days earlier than the family. We are hoping to use the perks during those first two days, since we will have a 7 day park hopper and a free water park day for the CSR days. Trying to use all those tickets, plus the PH voucher, on top of dining plan will be too much. If we can pick the perks up early, does PH take to-go orders? My son doesn't do well in noisy places. We would only order desserts, apps, or maybe a meal to share to use up the voucher.

The vouchers are included in the folder mailed to you with all of your package information. However, on each voucher the valid dates are listed and are only during the package dates so you won't be able to use them in advance. Also, the PH voucher states for Dine-In only.

:sad1: Thanks for the info. We have never booked a package before. When is it normally mailed to you?

have you just recently been rescued from a deserted island?

planet hollywood is horrid in everyway.

hence the reason that the crappy one at disney is the ONLY one left on earth.

just bad...even if it were west virginia pricing it would be a bad meal.
