Plane refund question?

Bear with me for this question: I have two vouchers on american and funds available on SWA for our (4 adults) trip to Disney at Christmas. SWA funds probably won't cover all of us at the holiday time. I used two AA vouchers and have ressies for two of us, and have been waiting for SWA to open up so two of us can fly with them. Question: Can I buy two refundable tickets with SWA for anytime, then refund them for cash and buy two tickets on our AA flight? Just wondering, would like to travel together and we have to use the SWA before Jan. 13. Thanks for your patience and any responses.
