Plane leaves early to come home...help!

Hi! If we book when we're hoping too, the plane to come home leaves at 9:35 am. Our place we're staying is 1 hr. from airport. I'm assuming it would be better to stay at a hotel close to the Sanford airport the night before we leave.
My ? is should we drop off our rental car the night before and take a shuttle back to the hotel and then take the shuttle back to the airport in the morning or should we just keep the rental car until the morning we leave and then drop it off at the airport. I'm wondering which will be easier!

Ah, the problems of not being able to book early and all you can find are expensive seats on the morning going to and evening coming back!

Are you used to driving an hour to the airport in the morning because you live an hour from your hometown airport? Only you can tell if you are comfortable doing this kind of thing.

You will have to plan more extra time in case you get stuck in traffic. Just as you do? at home.

If you choose the hotel near the airport for the night, I suggest dropping off the car the night before if it saves you a rental day. Otherwise a tossup. Some hotels require a sign up for the shuttle the previous night.

If you haven't flown out of Sanford before keep in mind that it's much smaller than MCO - in October we dropped off our rental car, walked inside, checked in and got through security in about 30 minutes.

Personally, I would think it would be less hassle and less time consuming to keep the rental car the extra night unless it's a big savings to drop it off a day early.

Returning the car the night before may not save you a day. I would take the car to the airport, do curbside check in with the luggage and then you could return the car. The rest of your party could go with you or wait for you in the terminal.

That way you don't have to worry if the shuttle is late, they forgot you, etc.

I think we'll just keep the rental car.
Now i just have to find a hotel close to the Sanford airport that we can stay at the night before our flight....recommendations anyone?
