Ok... I'm not sure how to ask this... lemme think... Oh ok..
When you go to Disney World what do you do when you get to the parks?

Lemme try to explain:
My last trip to Disney we went on like 99.5% of the rides (no tea cups).
Now I don't know if it was the walking that got me or what, but my feet were killing me (never happened before).

I decided my next trip, I am going to pick out my favorite rides (and the new ones) and ride them. And if I have time, maybe ride some other rides. But take my time.

What do you all do?

Try a regular walking program. I walk at least 2 miles everyday. It really helps with daily life. I usually sleep great! When I go to Disney, it helps to do those long days at the park.

I just focus in on the big attractions, when I hit the parks. Don't do a lot of backtracking. You get plenty of walking as it is, don't overdo it. Stop for breaks. Mickey head ice cream and water works great to get you ready to go again.

Another suggestion, buy really good running shoes. They have the extra support that feet crave for a long day on concrete. I wear my walking shoes to the parks.

I agree with a good pair of shoes! A MUST! And break them in before leaving! MGM is very easily manageable. Never been to AK. We break up MK into sections. For example, one morning we may do Fantasyland, Toontown & Tomorrowland, the afternoon we'll watch the parade from Frontierland & do Frontierland, Adventureland & Liberty Square. EPCOT is probably the hardest on feet since it is so big. We also break that up. We try to do FW one time. Then spread WS over 2 days & do half at a time. We always take a mid day break when we can take off shoes & soak our feet in the pool!! :)
We used TEVA sandals & loved them. I had never used them before & now they are my amusement park shoe of choice. You can even bring 2 pairs. Dh brought gym shoes & sandals. Sometimes switching might help too.
Good luck! Start walking NOW to prepare!!!

It's so funny... maybe 8 years ago.. my sister and I could do all of Epcot in one day.. no problem.. now.. my feet hurt!

Yeah.. well when I went with the cheerleaders in 2002 I wasn't bothered at all.. but we did the.. sleep in til 10.. spend a couple hours at a park.. go back to the hotel.. then go back to a park til close..

I think what happened on my last trip (Jan 2004) I wore the same shoes I wore when I went with the cheerleaders.. I think they were a lil worn out by then!

I am a large fan of the switching shoes rule!! I make sure we bring a couple of comfortable, broken in (but not broken down) pairs of shoes for each family member. And I usually try to get a pedicure about a week before. getting rid of old, dried skin, calluses, etc. can really help. I will also plan to take a hot bath or get into the hot tub in the evening. Helps soothe those tired old muscles!!!
