Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

Yes—very annoyed that for out of state APs with an onsite stay, you still need them. It’s just another hoop bit figure if we change our minds, I’ll just modify my reservation. Still debating if we’ll purchase the LLMP or skip it since we’re going end of Aug and wait times haven’t looked bad at all.
Park reservations are required by all those with APs. There are many APs who live in FL and park reservations affect them too. Many drive a distance to visit WDW and stay onsite also.

I’m wondering how this is going to work for the following:

Onsite rez Sat-Sat;

Date-based 7-day tix start the Wed before to take advantage of lower pricing vs Sat start date (recall 7 day tix can be used any 7 days during a 10 day period);

So, does the LLMP booking date start 3 or 7 days before the Wed start date of the tix OR 7 days before the onsite rez date? 🤷‍♀️

Geez, it’s like we need a master flow chart to understand all the possible permutations of this new LLMP. 🤦‍♀️

Clarifying, you purchased a resort only stay and tickets separate from each other?

My understanding is your booking will begin 7 days before your resort stay.

For you this would be the Sat before you arrive. If it were 3 days before your tickets if it wasn’t looking at your resort stay, it would be Sun but I believe for you it will be the Sat before you arrive at your resort.

Curious to see if others agree/disagree with my LLMP math.

Yes, DVC resort-only stay booked separate from tix purchase.

We are back peddling on our Disney plans given that, as foreigners, we won't have access to the new set up until we actually land at MCO by which time availability will be limited.

Just using our DVC as a hotel and doing non Disney stuff is the best solution for us frequent visitors but we are planning a trip with grandchildren and we wouldn't want to disappoint them.

So. If we still wanted to go, could we get a trusted friend living in the US to make all the new fangled reservations for us? I figure they would need access to our parties Disney app and our credit card details but what else would they need to act on our behalf?

All help greatly appreciated!

I am happy about this for the people it effects. But seriously, Disney needed to do a better job announcing this. People have been confused, annoyed and worried about this since the initial announcement.
Yeah, we are there 7/26 and I haven't gotten a thing about it. Not even an email about the changes. Obviously I stalk all things Disney, but what if I didn't?

Detailed guides for future guests wasn't included in their CBA. An omission there. Lack of competence? What the heck - if you need a detailed guide then surely you'd realise that you had created a monster.

It's almost like they're stalking this board and saw your post. I arrive the 24th and just now got a generic email introducing the new LLMP. No new info. Just says it's available to book the 24th. If this was my first time hearing about it, I'd be confused. (If I had even bothered reading it. It is pretty generic and just looks like a "prepare for your upcoming trip" auto email.) I would not be surprised if people show up completely unaware.

a trusted friend or a disney travel agent would be good options to get your stuff booked. We share our password with our travel agent so she can book our dining, passes etc. update our reservation with sales/deals....

If you go the friend route, they just need to be able to log in to your mydisneyexperience account and know what you want them to book.

I know - we arrive 27th and not a word about the new system and being able to purchase and book on 24th. Many people will probably just arrive and plan to purchase Genie+ day of.

We also arrive on the 27th and haven't received any emails from Disney about the change. I start reading Disney boards about 2 months before any trip. I wouldn't have known about the change without reading the boards. Hopefully this means pickings on the 24th won't be so bad.

I’d have that someone in the US make reservations for me. Don’t see why it won’t work.

And until we see actual reports of availability I wouldn’t get too down about the lack of availability close in as we don’t know what we’re facing yet on that front.

I’m guessing g that APs with an onsite stay will be able to book 7-days prior?
I'm hoping so. I have an onsite reservation July 25 - Aug 2 so will be finding out on July 24. On the plus side, I am going solo to visit my CM daughter and our full days together are at the beginning. I think this trip will be trial and error for me to see what's what and just to try and figure it out. A lot of my time I will be on my own at the park while she is at work. It won't matter to me if I can't get something and don't mind just going stand by. I'm going to even hold off at least one day to see what it's like to get day of. I am an early riser anyway so never had a problem with the 7am Genie+. Thankfully, should have it figured out by our family trip at Christmas.

After reading this thread answering this - I ended up confusing myself more than needed. It looks like the 3 day rule is for AP holders NOT staying on property, but for those staying ON property it is the 7 day rule. The website says :
Not staying at a Disney Resort hotel or other select hotel? Then you can purchase Lightning Lane passes—and choose experiences and arrival windows—3 days in advance.
That would mean (would it not?) that AP holders get the option based on where they're staying rather than date based tickets.

Really hoping so - otherwise would be totally unfair to AP that stay onsite. IF AP can only book 3 days out regardless if staying onsite, I will not renew AP.

With offsite date based tickets able to book 3 days before the start date I think many will select an earlier start date to gain an extra advantage.

For example, 4 day tickets are valid for a period of 7 days. If you’re going to the parks August 11-14 just select August 8 as your start date and you can book on August 5th, 6 days before your first park day.

Add on the water park option and you also get 1 additional day of validity so you could book 7 days before your first day, so August 4th, same as onsite guests.

In state APs with an on-site stay have to make park reservations too.
