Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

I have the same question but haven't seen an answer. Everything I've seen about the Single Pass has said it's the same as the ILL, except they can be booked ahead of time, so I'm hoping we'll be able to do what you described, but haven't seen it addressed. We like to hop from HS to Epcot, so I'm hoping to be able to get the Multipass for HS and a Single Pass for GOTG.

Yes you be able to use your LLMP at HS and with a Park-Hopper entitlement or AP go to Epcot and get a LLSP for GoTG.

Yep, about to post exactly this. I spoke to a CM on the phone last week who "confirmed" only the LLMPs have to be pre-booked in one park, meaning you can book a LLSP/VQ for a different park (if you have park hopper) for later that same day, or first thing if you're booking the LLMPs in the afternoon.

Hope that makes sense.

Makes sense. Thank you!

You'll be able to start booking on 24th July. Genie+ will be turned off at the end of the 23rd. Then at 7am on 24th July you'll see the new options for LLMP and LLSP, and at that point you'll be able to select for the same day (just like Genie+), and book for the next three days (seven if staying onsite), plus all the extended periods based on your ticket validity or hotel stay length. Nothing will be active to start any pre-booking prior to 7am on the 24th.

I wouldn't be surprised if Disney releases a major update to the MDE Disneyworld app on the night of the 23rd and that you need the updated app to book on the 24th. So, for those who are booking that morning, I wouldn't wait until just before 7:00 to open the app.
I have seen that you can start booking at 7am on the 24th a couple of places now. Is this idea from something from Disney or just a guess? Why not midnight or the middle of the night if/when the new app update get pushed?

If there is an app update, it seems like it would be easier to allow booking by following the new 3/7 day check instead of having it turn on at 7am.

7am (or 6am for online ADRs) is the rollover point for most things Disney World, when each new day's allocation goes live. But for the initial launch, that will be the time that everything is made available - today, 3-day window people, and up to 7-days out for hotel guests. After a week, it will be just rolling over one day at a time. From the WDW Lightning Lane web page:

The 7:00 AM time comes from the Disneyworld website: "Guests can purchase Lightning Lane passes for days they have valid theme park admission* starting at 7:00 AM Eastern Time on their first day of eligibility." Maybe they will allow bookings before that on the first day, but if they get in the habit of allowing bookings before 7:00 AM, it makes the point of having a start time meaningless.

No Guessing here at least on the date. There is usually not a last minuted MDE app update. However the first line of the instructions is to download the latest version of the MDE app. Normally when they make these types of major changes the app is updated about a week ahead of the launch. They use a "toggle function" in the app code to allow the feature(s) to show in the UI.

Before You Begin
Before you purchase a Lightning Lane pass, you’ll need to do 3 things:
  1. First, download the latest version of the My Disney Experience app.**
  2. Connect everyone in your travel group on your Family & Friends list in the My Disney Experience app—so you’ll be able to purchase Lightning Lane passes and make plans for everyone that is eligible.
  3. Gather your group’s wish list for attractions and experiences. You can save your group’s top picks in the My Disney Experience app using the “My Day” feature.
Disney knows they are confusing guests and they have been updating their "Information" page with more & more details. They just added this Blue Banner which makes it very clear as to when all the fun begins:

I probably don't understand this, but it sounds like there will always be people from both groups on at the same time trying for spots, what with the 3 day and 7 day people overlapping? I don't know, maybe I'm thinking too much:)

Hi!
Regarding split stays, I confirmed with Disney cast member that I would be able to purchase and make my selections at 7am 7 days before my first check in date for my length of stay! Including my 2 following stays! Check in 8/2, able to book 7/26/24 for entire stay including my successive two other resort stays (Boardwalk, VGF and Poly). Don't have to log in on 7/27 or on 7/28, will be able to book for entire stay on 7/26 despite changing resorts.

That’s true, but on July 24 guests whose 7-day window opened 7 days (or more) before, 6 days before, 5 days before, and 4 days before, PLUS guests whose 7- and 3-day windows opened 3 days before, 2 days before, and 1 day before PLUS whose 7- and 3-day windows open on July 24 will ALL be trying to book. After that, things will settle out because fewer guests will be eligible to book, but that first day will be something. I’ll be amazed if Disney’s IT doesn’t crash.

How did you contact this Disney CM? Many of us mistrust the phone CMs as well as the Parks Panel members, because they don’t have a very good record for providing accurate information. I hope the information you received is accurate, but until I read multiple reports of success from guests who have booked across split stays, I’ll be skeptical.

I talked to a Disney bus driver and she confirmed that ...

On a very serious note, we just don't know the answer today and until Disney publishes something publicly all bets are off. So don't take statement as fact from a CM, vlogger, and all the web sites that claim they have all the answers.

Hi!
I did chat with cast member on WDW website. Will know more if accurate on 7/26/24, hopefully it will be true.

You may be right but I don't think that quote necessarily applies here. At 12:01 on the 27th, there will be people with a week's worth of 'retroactive' eligibility.

It is a new process, not rolling over to the next day on an existing process. It may be that the app does not include the new lightning lane system until 7am. But, if it is available earlier than that time, it seems like the easiest thing would be to use the same eligibility checking code as they would on August 15th.

That's good to know about the timing of app updates. It would not make sense to me to have the toggle activate at 7am so that Genie+ is still prominently advertised in the app at 6:30. I wonder if the toggle time is something that someone could find in the code after that update.

From what we've been reading, I agree with you. It sounds like this will be the situation. If so, what a total mess it's going to be 7/24 at 7AM - new system, guests already at WDW trying to learn and book, and also folks trying to book 2-7 days out for an upcoming trip. Hope the tech can handle it!
ugh, sounds that way - 7/24 is the last day of our 3-day trip and am really not looking forward to dealing with this stress!

We should know on July 24th when guests that have multiple Split Stays start trying to book for their "length of stay".

My view is that it really comes down to this quote from the Disney information page and how Disney defines "Resort stay" and "lenght of stay".

Guests can purchase Lightning Lane passes—and choose experiences and arrival windows—starting 7 days before the first day of their Resort stay, for their length of stay (up to 14 days).

We know how Disney chooses to define these terms as they relate to eligibility for ADR scheduling. Disney does not recognize the concept of "Split Stay". Back to back resort stays at the same resort or different resorts count as 2 separate stays with 2 distinct ADR eligibility dates.
