Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

I feel like the system will benefit those who go in the morning, leave for midday break, and come back later. For those folks, wouldn’t it make sense to book your three advanced selections in the morning and then as you add an additional one after each ride, schedule for the evening. Do we know yet if you are able to modify times? This will help in case a ride pops up that is only available during your afternoon break time. Is this making sense? ;)
It's definitely gonna make folks that rope drop with 3 lls - slow down their afternoons by cutting out 'stacking' for evening returns.
Slow afternoons with 1 at a time/available.

The 3 pre booked LLs are probably going to boil down to what's more important, morning or afternoon, for those that break.

I'd hate to suffer the standbys in the morning just to "breeze" in the afternoon

Am I correct that it appears that we'll always be able to hold 3 LLMP's at a time? Say, after using first LLMP (and still holding the other two), you can then book another 3rd LLMP bringing your total back to 3. Use your second LLMP and book another bringing you back to 3... and so on and so forth?

This is different than the old FP+ correct? ...where you couldn't book a 4th until you used the first three. After the first three FP+ it was one at a time for the rest of the day

The way I understand it, you are correct on both. FP+ you had to use all 3 before booking 1 more. Also, keep in mind, if you book 3 LLMP under the upcoming system, after you use the first one, not only can you book another attraction, but you can book either tier at any park with the additional selections....

Correct as soon as you scan in for your first LLMP than you are able to make another selection. It will be a rolling 3 passes. You just can't rebook a repeat ride. Your additional LLMP selections may be in any park.

That's why some posters are curious to what the "availability" will be. Could possibly be so staggered or spread out that a user could be very limited in how many are obtained in a day.

I'm so overwhelmed! I took one trip a couple of years ago using Genie+ when it was fairly new, so my memory is fuzzy. Trying to read up on everything, but it's information overload!

My upcoming trip is July 21-26, so things will change right in the middle of my trip.

We currently have base tickets and want to be able to do all of the headliners as well as lots of other rides as well. I think I can recall/figure out how Genie+ and ILL's work. I'm pretty confused on how things will change and I've never had to deal with virtual queues.

Could someone please explain this to me like I'm a 5 yr old (No offense to 5 yr olds - they're likely smarter than I am when it comes to this stuff).

Thanks!

You will be able to book Genie+ daily as usual for July 21-23

The morning of July 24th, you'll be able to book using the new system for the 24th, 25th, and 26th

As for how it works, here's my attempt at some FAQs. I think this is all accurate (as of July 1st) but I'm open to input!

Do Lightning Lanes still cost money?
Yes, as with Genie+, access to Lightning Lanes is a paid service. Guests may purchase a "Lightning Lane Multi-Pass" (LLMP) which essentially replaces Genie+, and/or "Lightning Lane Single Pass" (LLSP), which is a new name for "Individual Lightning Lanes".

How much will it cost?
The current expectation is that, at least initially, costs for LLMP will be equivalent to the existing pricing for Genie+, while costs for LLSP will be equivalent to the existing pricing for ILLs.

Prices for all of those services are already variable, so it's impossible for us to say exactly what the price will be up-front. And of course, Disney will likely adjust pricing over time based on adoption rates.

What is a "Lightning Lane Multi-Pass" (LLMP)?
LLMP allows guests to book lightning lane access to the majority of park attractions. This includes the ability to pre-book attractions, as well as the ability to make additional selections throughout the day.

How many Lightning Lanes can I book in advance with LLMP?
You can pre-book three attractions per day.

These pre-bookings can include one 'tier 1' attraction and two (or three) 'tier 2' attractions, but only three total.

Can I pick my own booking windows?
Unlike with Genie+ you can book specific time windows, rather than next available slot. This is more like the old FP+ system.

Can I book multiple attractions for the same time?
With FastPass+ these windows could not overlap (e.g. if you had one pass for 10:05-11:05 you couldn't book another at 10:55-11:55). But there is some belief that the new system will allow up to 15 minutes of overlap. We will know for sure once it opens on the 24th!

What if there's no good availability for the day I'm booking? Am I stuck?
You make your selections before you pay for the pass, so if you don't like the availability you can just bail without paying.

Can I book additional passes with LLMP, or just those three?
While you can only pre-book three LL attractions with LLMP, you can keep a rolling three passes. This means that once you scan your first pass (or let it expire) you can book another one based on open availability.

Can I book additional Tier 1 attractions?
While you can only pre-book one Tier 1 attraction, your day-of additional passes can include additional Tier 1 attractions, based on availability.

Does Lightning Lane Multi Pass include all the attractions that were in Genie+?
No, as of right now all character meet-and-greets have been removed from the list of Lightning Lane attractions.

Can I use the Lightning Lane for the same attraction multiple times per day?
No, you can only use a Lightning Lane once per attraction, per day. Presumably you could ride again via standby.

Can I book passes at multiple parks?
Your initial pre-booked attractions all have to be in one park. But, your day-of passes can be at another park.

For example: you pre-book three attractions at MK, but once you scan in for your first attraction you can book a new LL pass for an attraction at EPCOT.

Can I modify my bookings if plans change?
Yes, you will be able to modify upcoming bookings in order to select alternative attractions and/or times, based on availability.

If I buy the Multi-Pass, can I book a Lightning Lane for TRON or Guardians?
The most popular attractions, including TRON and Guardians, are not included with the Multi-Pass. However, you may purchase both Multi-Pass and Single Pass (based on availability), as well as or availing yourself of the standby/virtual options for any given attraction

What is a Lightning Lane Single Pass (LLSP)?
Lightning Lane Single Pass (LLSP) is essentially a re-brand of Individual Lightning Lanes, which allows a guest to pay a la carte for access to a single attraction at a time.

This is separate from Lightning Lane Multi-Pass. You can purchase one, both, or neither.

Does this have anything to do with Virtual Queues?
Virtual queues are a way of allocating standby capacity, and are unrelated to Lightning Lanes.

You may access the Lightning Lane via LLMP or LLSP (depending on which is offered for the the attraction).

You may access the Standby Lane via Walkup or Virtual Queue (depending on which is offered for the attraction).

First I've read of this, where are you getting this info?

never mind, found it. Disney Parks Blogs, good read for everybody

No, the most popular attractions, including TRON and Guardians, are only available via Lightning Lane Single Pass, or via standby/virtual queues.
Just to be more clear, you may want to modify this to read:

No, the most popular attractions, including TRON and Guardians, are only available via Lightning Lane Single Pass, or via standby/virtual queues. If you purchase Multi-Pass, you can also purchase Lightning Lane Single Passes separately.

Well that highest price that I have seen is $39 for MK FP+ and also for Multi-park FastPass+ so it is very close to $40 in the variable price system.

Dave
Which means this will be much more.

I feel Disney realizes the poo-poo show they have now. I suspect this will be THE change that brings them closer to other parks. Cedar Point charges $120 for one’day of their Fast Lane, and $25 for single rides, Six Flags FlashPass is $70. Yes, those are a bit less limited than Genie, but they are not Disney. I foresee this new iteration being at least $50 a person. And it will become a true advantage for those that buy it,

I know things may change, but I need help figuring this out. I had a plan, but now we are flying in late the night before, so things are changing.

We are doing Epcot during the day, Magic Kingdom at night ( and part of that will be the late night deluxe resort hours). If you are only doing that night at MK, plus a Halloween Party, would you book your rides at the Magic Kingdom and do stand by at Epcot? My niece really wants to do Tron, plus we do have more time at Epcot. So I'm thinking of doing standby lines at Epcot that morning. Does that make the most sense? I would love to do Guardians of the Galaxy, but what are the odds I could book Tron later????

Both Tron and Guardians utilize Lightning Lane Single Pass, and are not included in the Multi-Pass product, so they won't really compete with your LL selections (though they may compete with your wallet).

If those are really your priorities, I would purchase Single-Pass access for both TRON and Guardians, and then decide whether it was worth it to also purchase the Multi-Pass or if you can do everything you want with standby/evening hours/party.

I'd pre book 3 in Epcot, see how things are playing out, use one and maybe start booking at MK (4th, 5th, 6th) before hopping.

If this is how it plays out and availability supports it, I can see this new format as a positive.

I'm curious how the pricing will be if you have park hoppers. I understand the system and you start at one park and then you can grab another Lightening Lane at a different park if you want to park hop.

However, it appears that the pricing is still going to be date & park based. If that is the case, I am wondering if there is going to be a multi park option like there is now & you will have to buy that when you pre-plan to be able to get LL in the 2nd park. My guess is yes but we will find out.

My other hunch and I could be completely off base is that the Meet & Greets Lightening Lanes might show up each day vs. pre-planned so that adds another layer.

I do feel for those who are going in the middle of the change. Luckily, I am not going until 2025. I think I'm going to like the system once all the bugs are worked out and I figure out how to use it. The hardest part for me is the all or nothing for first picks when you have 1/2 the group liking the coasters and the other 1/2 not. I know you can modify but I can see where that can get tricky.

No there will not be a multi-park pricing for LLMP. If you booked the lower park as your initial park you can chose a LLMP at a different park on the day of your park visit for no additional fee.

ETA: fix text to show a no answer....

🤣

Yes, because Disney is well known for rolling out new things and not charging more.

I think it's just based on where you make your initial selections, without any additional charge to make follow-up selections at another park? But I guess we'll see.

I wouldn't be shocked if they really did do away with LLs for meet-and-greets. Those are so low-capacity that standby just crawls along if they keep a LL open. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a lot of angry families complain to guest services about spending an hour in line, even though there were only a handful of parties in front of them. But again: we'll see!

Yes there will be a multi-park pricing for LLMP. If you booked the lower single park you will need to pay the difference if you chose a LLMP at a different park on the day of your park visit.

Dave
There is no indication of this on Disney's website, where they repeatedly state that booking an additional pass at another park only requires Park Hopper benefits.

I'm sorry for asking a question that may have already been covered but nothing is coming up for me when I search.
Will Tiana's switch off the VQ from the 24th July when this new system goes live?

The Meet-n-Greets are not in the initial list but Disney can always add them back later before or after July 24th.

Yep I was editing my post as you posted.

It was supposed to but with the issues with ride uptime at this time we just don't know.
