Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

QUESTION: All ears reported a “loop hole” where you could still access a lightning lane 2 hours after expiration and it would turn green. Not sure if it had to be during a dining reservation or not, that part confused me. I also read this loophole has closed.

Has anyone tried it recently?

Does it still work?

Any tips?

Thanks! :flower1:

For those of you who have been looking for examples of availability when booking 3 days out-
I did the LLMP/ LLSP selections for my upcoming trip this morning starting at 7:00 on the dot. I am staying onsite but some members of my 10 person party are staying off site, so in the interest of keeping everyone together I waited to book until the 3 day mark. We are doing 3 days each at MK and EP, 2 days each at AK and HS, over a 14 day period. I went into it thinking I'd have a hard time and would be choosing from scraps especially for the first part of the trip. This was not the case. I was able to get everything we wanted with just two exceptions. I was not able to get Slinky Dog for either of our HS days. I was not able to get 7D for our first MK day but could get it for the later MK days. I was happily surprised that things went so well considering our large group size, having to wait to book until 3 days out instead of 7, and being locked out during 2 ADRs each day. After finishing I was also able to move things around to better fit our schedule. I am so pleased. I didn't expect such great results. All told for 10 people and 10 park days with LLMP for everyone everyday, and all available LLSP for most people (we have an under height child and an older person who doesn't do thrill rides) in our daily park (except the 1 day I couldn't get 7D) I spent $4322.

Edited to correct the math on my final total

As the planner in my family, my heart goes out to you to have this responsibility for 10 people. 😂 I am happy that the preplanning portion was a success! It still makes me laugh (gotta laugh or I will cry) that you now have to spend $4322 for something that was free not that long ago. That is true Disney Magic LOL

As of earlier this month, it worked with no issues. Scanned in green up to 2 hours after the window expired, no dining reservation required. Also a couple of times showed up even later than that and scanned blue, and the cast member seemed like they just wanted any reason to let you through (I said another ride was down so that messed up our schedule causing us to be late, which was true).

I have a question about purchasing.
There are 2 people in my party. Can one of us buy LL for one park while the other buys LL for another park?

Thanks :)
If we avoid significant lines all day and are able to keep adding desirable attractions all day long, I will consider it money well spent. That piece remains to be seen! I was a big fan of Genie+ because of stacking, which was ideal for us because we prefer to arrive at the parks later in the day as opposed to at opening. This product is definitely not best suited for arriving late so it will be interesting to see how the two compare when actually in use.

Having used the LLMP last week, I feel like it is something that works pretty well and is worth it for people, like me, who just can't wait in long lines. We have been spoiled by every program from early fast pass until this.
Is it worth the money? It is to us.
Is it more useful in some parks than others? Most definitely. We are not thrill riders, roller coasters and the virtual video rides make me sick. So at AK it is only good for a couple of things, but waiting in the River Navi ride for 40+ minutes is a terrible idea for us.

That said, I booked rides for our return next week and 7 days out Toy story Mania was already at 5:25 about 30 minutes after booking opened. There are few rides that even today aren't that late, except of course Slinky Dog. So it is unpredictable still.

can I pay the MPLL and ILLL with disney gift cards? Is that easy to do?
My fear is if I take few seconds/minutes longer doing the gift card payment instead of CC payment I might lose my selections, or is not that bad? I remember genie plus days, when if you sneeze you miss.

So, apparently you can do this with GCs, but there's an extra step.

When I put in my GCs, the continue button greyed out. Other folks stated upthread that there should have been an additional button to push to acknowledge that there was nothing being charged to the credit card, but I never saw that button.

and do you know if our selections are guaranteed for few minutes until you finish checking out/paying?

We are staying off-site next week (shorter trip), and I started playing around today with it.........and noticed that everything was late afternoon/evening. I was HOPING to get my 3 rides in the morning--and then park hop in the later afternoon/evening--but from looks of it, not sure that is going to be possible? Did you get any AM rides available for hte initial 3--or did you also see just afternoon times? I'm not sure I want to risk modifying and hoping for earlier times either.

Sorry, I am lazy and don't feel like reading 235 pages so I get the eye roll if I am asking a repetitive question.

Booked LLMP already, and 3 out of our 4 LLSP. I should've booked the 4th, but I was worried about timing with park hopping so I delayed. Now all of the GOTG LLSP are gone. So my question is, does anyone know if LLSP ever get slots again after it is gone? Any chance slots will open on day of?

Side Note: we can always try for 6pm VQ on Monday night, but with military salute tickets we had to pick our park and HS and AK it was with LLMP. I cannot get VQ at 7am nor 1pm as it conflicts with our schedule.

@boxer, can I ask why you laughed at my post? :confused3

I get if there's no chance LLSP will open, but I thought it was worth asking to see if anyone has had some luck.

Because I agreed about not reading 235 pages, cuz I'm lazy too lol

Ahh, I misunderstood. :thumbsup2 Thanks. Glad I’m not the only lazy one. 🤣😉

And I’m an onsite guest so I can’t answer your question with firsthand knowledge. However, from what I’ve learned not using it yet, openings earlier in the day do pop up. You just have to keep stalking and refreshing. (Total pain, I know.)

If I were in your shoes, pick one at the earliest time you can get if it’s remotely close to early (on or before 10) otherwise just get the three you want and try to improve. 🤞🏻 good luck!!
