Now I'm struggling with two plans (first trip, 2 adults, 2 kids, 6-year-old and 12-year-old, with 3 days with park hoppers):

Plan A:
Aug 21, Tuesday: (LAX)-Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City
Aug 22, Wednesday: Universal Studios, regular tickets with early-enter. Drive to Anaheim at night.
Aug 23, Thursday: Aug 24, Friday, and Aug 25, Saturday: 3 park days
Aug 26, Sunday: Anaheim-Lax

Plan B:
Aug 21, Tuesday: (LAX)-Anaheim
Aug 22, Wednesday, Aug 23, Thursday, Aug 24, Friday :3 park days
Aug 25 Saturday: Day trip to Universal Studios with express tickets. Back to Anaheim at night.
Aug 26, Sunday: Anaheim-Lax

Any suggestion? Thanks...

Plan A

I really prefer to end my SoCal trips with Disneyland.

Plan A.....it's been our experience that Universal is a little bit of a letdown if it follows a Disney visit. Have you spent any time in LA before? Maybe you could check out Griffith Park on arrival night. Have a wonderful time!

I'd also vote for plan A. Enjoy Hilton Universal, it's a great hotel!

Thank you for your recommendation.
I googled. Griffith Park is appealing. Wish the traffic won't be too bad.

Plan A. Agree Universal can be a letdown after Disney but mainly this way you get a chance at longer hours at Disneyland and weekend entertainment schedules.

Plan A ends your trip at DLR on CHOC Walk Sunday (https://www.chocwalk.org). Be prepared for the parks, especially DTD and the esplanade area to be very busy first thing in the morning. Things will settle down and clear up by noon or so. You can still have a great time on your last day, just be prepared.

Thank you. Hope Disney would not start to run their low season schedule yet that week.

CHOC walk is Sunday, it looks like he is going back to LAX that morning. Not a problem!
I, on the other hand, plan to be there walking. It. Is. Mayhem. But Disney does an excellent job of clearing out early!

On Sunday we will have to get up very early to catch the flight. Thank you.

Disney does do a good job with the Walk (and we'll be there, too!), but if the OP wants to have breakfast in DTD or spend a last few hours in the parks, it is better not to be caught off guard. Thousands of walkers can be quite a surprise first thing in the morning!

You should be fine, but be prepared that there may be a little bit of traffic, especially on the streets right around the M&F structure. M&F usually opens around 4:30 am for the walkers, so the intersection of Ball Rd. and Disneyland Dr. (and any streets feeding into that intersection) can back up until the Walk starts.

Yes CHOC walk is Sunday.
OP's last day in the parks with their 3day hoppers will be Saturday.

We will stay at Hyatt House. Looks like not too far away from the M&F structure. Our flight will take off at 11:50 AM. Do you think leaving the hotel around 7 is early enough?
