has anyone got any reccomendations of places to eat in the kissimee area. we tend to just go to the ponderosa or golden coral and would like to try somewher different. :moped:

You are spoilt for choice all over the Orlando area when it comes to dining. Do you want something 'family oriented', something upscale, something unusual?

If there are lots of men-folk in your group and you want a sports bar atmosphere with good food (and plenty of it!) Orlando Ale House is just around the corner from Downtown Disney/Crossroads (turn left as you go out the exit towards Goodings, then go left at the first light).

Macaroni Grill and Olive Garden are both out the same exit as above, then just up the road. Bahama Breeze is out the same exit, but turn right and go under the overpass. They are all good family dining choices.

For truly fabulous (pricy) seafood, head out to Mall at Millenia and try McCormick and Schmick's. For finer dining, you can't beat any of the restaurants at Gaylord Palms, the Renaissance Resort, The Peabody, or (heaven help us!) the stunning Arthur's 27 in the Wyndham Palace.

If it's jaw-dropping atmosphere you're looking for, try Tschop Chop at Universal Studio's Royal Pacific Resort. Worth the drive, but you may spend some serious money.

What sort of dining are you most interested in? We're happy to offer suggestions! :)

Anyone else have any ideas about good places to eat in Kissimmee? :D

bonefish grill, sweet tomatoes, steak and ale, bahama breeze, what kind of food are you looking for?

HI..we are addicted to Shell's on 192 about 7 miles east of Disney...a bit of a drive, but again we love it....very casual seafood, free salted in the shell peanuts..good cold beer and the seafood is excellent... a real local favorite...

Enjoy...Ted

We ate at Charlie's Steakhouse near Celebration in April. Pricey, but IMO one of the best steaks I've ever had. More low-key is JTs which is like a roadhouse, but they have great burgers, ribs. They also have all you can eat prime rib.

Is BONGO'S still open? We were there in 2003, and it was pricey, but worth every bit.

In 1997, I went to a restaurant heavily themed on racecars, over by the convention center area, I think. Considering taking the troup there one night (from the Poly)...still there? cab fare costs? Other comments?

I would recognize the name, but can't remeber it. Not in the price range of Golden Corral though...

Would it be the Race Rock? You can see it as you are driving I-4.

That sounds right...brightly lit, heavy on the NASCAR stuff. The children might like it, but not sure. Is food good? Worth 3 hours away from the World one night? We typically go for 8 days/7 nights and try a few new places among some faves...lots to choose from inside the parks though.

Boston Market is always a hit with my family since we don't have one locally. There are several locations in the Orlando area. Check their website for locations and printable coupons.

Sonny's Barbecue is good. The chicken and ribs are great. We all like the garlic bread and they give you lots. They have a feast for four which is around $40.00. It includes chicken, beef and pork, fries, garlic bread, beans, salad and drinks. We have never been disappointed. We went last Tuesday night after a day at the parks and loved it.
We go to the one on 192 East.

Golden Corral
Yeah, they have one in Omaha too. I often heard it referred to as "The Golden Trough". ;) Lots of food, buffet style. Quantity over quality.
I have not eaten at any, except in Omaha.

We like Tony Roma's (just outside of DTD).
DH also told me there is a Damon's (another rib chain). I think that is in Old Towne. I have never been there. We use to eat at the Damon's in South Bend, IN and always liked it.

If you want to go as far as highway 50, east of Ocoee, west of downtown Orlando, there are very good restaurants all clustered: Steak N Ale, Orlando Ale House, Olive Garden, etc. Even a Chuck E Cheese. (Lots of shopping nearby too. West Oaks Mall and lots of other stores.)

There is an Alehouse right off of 535 (Vineland). I beleive you come out of DTD turn left onto 535 and it is up on the left. Near the Grand Cypress (is that what it is called?) resort.
