Places for toddler to run around?

We will be traveling with a just under 2 year old in April. He is very active and when we did a test run at the local aquarium this weekend, he really wanted to get out of his stroller and run around after about an hour. Are there any good places in the parks to take a toddler so they can run around for a bit that are currently open? I can only find pre-COVID lists online and would imagine most locations (like playgrounds, Casey Jr etc) are closed (or maybe they’re not? I have no idea!!)

My toddlers love to run around on the hub grass at MK. My husband and I sit and drink our coffee while they get out energy. If they are steady on their feet Swiss family tree house (might be under refurb then).
- The animal trials at AK.
- Lots of good quite places in world showcase. Gardens in the UK and the back of Italy.
- HS Disney Jr dance party.

Oooh, boy, this hits home. We make frequent trips (live close) and just got back tonight after another overnighter and this is my biggest challenge right now. My 16 month old wants to RUN.

We love the hub grass, and spend lots of time there, but today he didn't want to just stay in the fenced area.

If the crowds are lower, we do okay at the tanks in the Seas. It was quite crowded yesterday, though, and became a problem.

The back part of Morocco used to be a great spot but a, um, popular picture spot has tons of people flocking back there now. There are some corners here and there you can find, though, like behind UK.

The area by Dumbo that used to have water features was a lifesaver a couple weeks ago. Very few people cut through there and he could run around, fairly contained and out of the way.

He could walk in some of the animal trails but they were pretty firm on keeping things moving (no lingering in some spots...) and that was hard for him.

When you get off Figment, you walk through that entire empty building so I let him roam there until he realized the ramp that everyone walks down to exit the building makes a really cool noise and he just wanted to run up and down it, which obviously wasn't doable. If your toddler doesn't discover the wonders of the ramp, there is some space to run.

With the lines extending so far into other spaces, it eliminated a lot of the dead space that offered up room to roam and makes it a challenge. We currently do very short stints in the parks because he simply can't sit in the stroller restrained for long.

Definitely following to see if others have found out of the way spots!

even if play areas would be open they are not always safe for smaller/younger kids walking around esp the small one by splash/thunder mountains.

That was a big issue I saw during our Thanksgiving trip there...no place for a toddler to get their wiggles out. We used to love that Dunno playland, the interactive queues (like Pooh) and the interactive areas at the ends of rides like Mission Space and Spaceship Earth.

Mine are grown, but areas we used that are still or again open (and not already mentioned) are:
Tom Sawyer Island, the water play areas at Epcot*, the back side of Echo Lake where the stairs are outside Indiana Jones line, the Discovery Trails at AK, and across from the bathrooms between FotLK and back entrance to Pandora
* There are two soft water play areas with seasonal water squirts coming up through the pavement - one was on the walkway between Future World and World Showcase and the other between the bathrooms behind Mouse Gears and the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy - both are still show on the map in the app. The other is where you can watch the water jump between the exit from Imagination Pavilion and entrance to Pixar short films.

The FOrt on Tom Sawyer Island is a great place for the kids to run around, I think the Fort just reopened this week. However, the wait for the rafts to get there and back have been very long, so not sure if that's the best plan for wiggly worms. But kids LOVED running around the fort/island when we'd go.

In addition to other spots mentioned here, my 14 month old likes the Disney Junior photo ops (not in use) at HS as well as that whole open area by Launch Bay.

at Epcot, there’s the former Odyssey pavilion where the preview show is. There’s tables to sit down outside the show.
