Placeholders and blackout dates

So I've been debating purchasing a few placeholders in my upcoming cruises. I just noticed in this recent summer 2024 drop that there are blackout dates for placeholders. Is this always the case for summer or how does this work. I had planned on getting placeholders so my family could sail in summer to make the summer prices more manageable.

I think those are the first trips to Lighthouse Point. I have not yet run into a placeholder issue for a generic summer trip (even the longer Fantasy voyages). I would always get one, and then if you decide not to use it, you get the full refund. Better to have it and not use it (if there's a chance you might) vs. not.

The blockout dates are on the DCL website and they're for specific sailings at peak holidays (e.g. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, Easter), or special cruises like inaugural sailings. You should be okay for general summer sailings.

Good to know, I think when I first saw the list of dates I thought those were ALL FOR SUMMER. So I was sitting here thinking wow is there anything left? Clearly I should have looked better
