Is there a list of blackout sailings or sailing dates? I’ve made peace with the fact that I’m going to be calling to book but I *really* want see sailings, pricing, room availability, etc before calling.

Can anyone clarify the process of using a TA with your placeholder? I am planning to get a placeholder on my upcoming Alaska cruise (boarding Monday!!), and I don’t have a TA but would like to take advantage of using one for the on-board credit. Do I need to have a TA already when going through the process of purchasing the placeholder, or how do I go about working with someone after?

You will need to transfer the placeholder to a TA within 30 days. I recommend making the placeholder as late on the cruise as possible to help maximize the time remaining in that 30 day window once you are home. It is also helpful if you research and pick a TA ahead so you know to whom it will transfer.

@lanejudy already explained the process, but I wanted to point out that most TAs give less OBC for bookings with the onboard booking discount. They get only half commission on these bookings. And since the OBC comes out if their commission, it usually is half of what a normal booking would get.

Hi everyone, we purchased a placeholder on the members cruise to Alaska and looks like we won’t be able to schedule anything in. For the life of me, I can’t seem to find the placeholder email. Can someone let me know what email address that comes from and if I can’t find the email how do we get this refunded?

First question: did you use a Travel Agent for your AK cruise? If so, check with them to see if they were given the info.

Otherwise, call DCL.

How long has it been since you cruised?

Here’s the address from ours. The purchase date would have been that day, so no lag in their mailing it.

Yes, you can call in and they can look that up for you. They can also tell you the dates so you can use the oldest one first if needed.

It should based on my promo expiration dates on the card I used to buy the placeholder.

Yes, I have purchased a placeholder reservation with my Disney Visa several times, and each time the $250 deposit has shown on my statement as eligible for 6 months without interest. When I convert the placeholder to an actual reservation, the additional deposit and each payment I make also show as eligible for the financing deal.
