Placeholder question

Yes, but I don't have anything booked on DCL right now, and I don't know if I will before the placeholder expires next May. We're trying out other cruise lines right now. We have Princess booked for April 2020.
Yeah, gotcha! Comment was really for others reading so they'd know that it's an option. Some people (like me) will end up with multiple placeholders knowing that some won't be used, and it's good to know that the deposits can just be rolled over to another reservation. It minimizes the credits to the credit card and keeps the money all allocated to some Disney cruise. ;)

Just want to double check my logic here to make sure I’ve got this right.

DH and I are on the Fantasy Sat. I want to book 2 placeholders (2 cabins on the same cruise). DH will not be with us. I’ll be the lead on one & DMIL who has never cruised DCL will be lead on the other. This is possible right?

Also, when itineraries release I will be Gold. Can both my placeholders be converted to our actual sail date on Gold release or just my cabin? If not, my kids are Silver and DD will be in DMIL’s cabin, so could I convert that placeholder on Silver release?

Thanks for any insight!

On my last cruise (Fantasy 2017), I was able to put down 2 placeholders. 1 for myself & husband & 1 for my SIL & family who were not sailing with us. We each had our own reservation # & my husband & I were on our own placeholder (aka we didn't need one of us on 1 placeholder & the other of us on the 2nd placeholder). The only caveat was that both rooms needed to sail on the same future sailing. My SIL's placeholder still qualified for the OBB benefits. So unless something has changed, which is very possible of course, you should be able to do this.

Also, to answer your 2nd question - Release days are based off the highest Castaway Club status on the reservation. So you can book on Gold Release Day & the reservation with your children can book on Silver Release Day.

Perfect! Thanks so much for answering.

sorry for the bad info at the start. Looks like my experience was completely different from everyone else's. I will have to push back if the same thing happens on our upcoming cruise.

No worries. Next time insist and escalate if necessary. I always check here first so that I can be 100% confident during these situations - ticket upgrades, placeholders, etc.

There are lots of excellent CMs, but some need some retraining. And I don’t get why they can’t say so if they don’t know something, like « That’s a really good question. I’m just going to check with my colleague to see if what you’re trying to do is in any way possible ». Would be so much simpler than them making crap up.

Now that you know, make it easy on yourself and just fill out the form for your 2 placeholders that you know are allowed, and don't ask. :) Name whoever you want and indicate that it's not the same people sailing. I wouldn't really want to have to "push back" while on vacation because that gets me mentally out of my vacation vibe!

We were allowed to book 2 cabins while my husband and I were onboard the fantasy. One cabin for my husband and I (onboard) and one cabin for our boys (not onboard). We did not have to split up and put one of us in each cabin. We got the 10% off for both cabins and the OBB credit for each stateroom.

Same for us. I booked 2 placeholders. One for the two of us and one for grandson & GF (who were not on the cruise). I converted grandsons to a reservation, no problem and we leave next weekend. I was already booked on that cruise, so didn’t use my placeholder (but I used it for a November 2019 cruise). Neither of us are in grandsons room.
