We are on the Northern Europe cruise later this year and we have a cruise booked for next year, only paid deposit on next years. If I get a placeholder on this years cruise can I apply this to my next years cruise retrospectively or will I have to cancel and rebook.
Regards Michael

Placeholders Rules state that they are to be used for new bookings only. Due to the fact that DCL raises prices as the cruises fill up, you might not get a discount if you decide to rebook using the placeholder.

Some will possibly chime in saying they were able to retroactively apply a placeholder by going through a supervisor in very special circumstances, but it is neither the norm nor to be expected.

Thanks Marc, thought I would have to cancel and rebook but would probably lose the stateroom we booked. Only recently learnt that it is possible to book a placeholder in a currency other than dollars, we had booked a placeholder on last year's EBTA and when I applied it for this year I had to pay the balance in dollars. Of course the pound fell badly against the dollar so I ended up paying the same as if I had no discount.
Still you live and learn.
Regards Michael
