What are the other things he would like to spend it on?
I'm planning on having minimal floral in the reception, maybe half candle votives or something like that, which will save some money - I think I'll remember the carriage more than the flowers! I was planning on having an open bar for our guests but both my parents and FILs have told us not to be silly and people can buy their own drinks. Cutting both these would probably save us $1250, and that's almost half the Coach![]()
I know that the coach is very expensive and really is not in the budget for many people (and yes, there are much better things to do with your money). But, it was really awesome! Particularly if you have events around the GF (my experience). It carried us quite a distance before and after the ceremony. It was my Mom's favorite part of the wedding, I think!
I take it they only have the one coach so if someone else wants it at the same time you might not get it?
Well we did talk about it and although I didn't get a definate yes, I think he can be persuaded.
How long do you get it for, that was one of DFs issues that he thinks you only have it for 5 mins?
I don't know if there's an actual time limit, but for us, it picked us (my parents and I at that point) up at the side entrance to the GF (by the rock pool), pulled out toward the front of the GF, went by the bell stand, looped around at the convention center, went back the other direction, came onto the sidewalk by the tennis courts, went past the Spa, and then came around to the WP. It took quite a while.
Then, after the ceremony, we did a staged exit and got on the coach and it took a loop around the parking lot to simulate us departing while our guests headed to the reception.
Then, it waited on us while we did pictures, and we re-boarded and headed to the reception. This is where I was surprised...it went down the sidewalk past the spa again and paused by the pool. We got off and took pics with our photographers on the beach. We got on again and rode to the fountain by the other pool and got off for more pics. Then, we rode it all the way to our reception at Narcoossee's! It was a lot of getting on and off, but we didn't mind one bit!!![]()
It was an awesome experience because it gave DH and I time to sit and soak up the "Disney-ish-ness" of our wedding before the reception. Since we rode right through the middle of the GF, all the guests were ooh-ing and aah-ing and waving to us. Little kids would point and say "Cinderella"It was also great to not have to walk at all to our reception. We felt like real royalty as we were carted right up to the front of Narcoossee's and "disembarked!"
I don't know how it runs at other venues, but I definitely think you should have your reception close to your wedding if you want to get the most riding out of it!
Thanks for the details, we want a GF based wedding very much like yours so that should work I am going to e-mail him now with what you've said!
