Thanks for the Pixie Dust Tonight I was checking my ressies (for the millionth time )...and I see:

"Beds: 1 King
Room Features: Deluxe Non-Smoking Rm, Step Out Balcony, Resort View With Balcony, Armoire/Tv/Stocked Minibar, , Whimsical Themed Room With Private Balcony Offering A View Of Resort Area And Crescent Lake."

I read it twice before I believed it

I was booked in a standard room. Below is the request that I faxed to the Dolphin:
We are looking forward to our upcoming trip to the Dolphin. I have already requested an upgrade if available (I am a Gold SPG member), but after much research…I have a better idea of what to request. This will be my husband and my first visit without our kids and also our first stay at the Dolphin. I want it to be perfect!
We will be staying with you from April 26th through April 30th and I wanted to see if you could possibly accommodate the following room requests for our stay. We have a standard room with non-designated view and two double beds. We would love a room with a king sized bed and would appreciate an upgraded view if available (Epcot would be my first choice). Actually if I could request any room…I would go all the way and make a bold appeal for one of the corner King rooms that I have been reading about (with 2 balconies!) I said it would be a bold request, but…you only live once. Thank you in advance for any help you can give us in making our visit perfect!

Um, at the risk of getting flamed why not just book what you really want so you won't be disappointed? I'd feel kind of funny asking for all of that and I wouldn't want to be disappointed because I didn't get what I requested. Flame away!

pewing - I thought that was a very nicely worded request. Hotels often upgrade their frequent guests (I see you are SPG), and I see nothing wrong with respectfully giving a little guidance as to your preferences - you were wonderful about not setting out your request as an expectation.
You have inspired me for DH's possible trip in September - he would be attending a conference at the Swan, and our AP rate is lower than the conference room rate so I am hoping we (his company) can pay the lower of the two rates. Just wondering how the booking worked for you - did you book as part of a conference room block, and then request the nurse rate, or did you book separately from the block of rooms for the meeting? [assuming of course that the reason you are going is that he's attending some kind of meeting ]. Anyway, if your scenario at all resembles the above, I'd love to know how you handled the rate thing. We find out in June if he gets to go [***here's hoping he does***].

Thank you for your kind post. Yes...my DH is attending a conference/trade show at the Dolphin during this trip. I did not book through the conference. I tried to book directly through the Dolphin, but they told me they didn't have rooms at that rate for my travel dates. Thanks to these boards...I contacted Dreams Unlimited and they secure the room at the rate.

Good luck with your planning. I am really looking forward to it DH and I don't travel without our boys (7 and 8) so this will be a treat...
