We have been counting the months, weeks, days, and minutes until our next big DVC trip (a BCV/BWV extravaganza, possibly with SSR to boot!) Our fam of 5 was especially looking forward to bringing my BIL/SIL and their 2 sons along... our newest nephew/godson/cousin was just born 2 weeks ago, and we all were thrilled at the prospect of sharing in his first trip to the "World" next summer (he will be 8 mos old!) It was a very very difficult pregnancy, and once he arrived on Dec. 1st, and seemed healthy and well, it was like their family said, "Whew! We NEED a trip to WDW! Bring on the magic!" (Plus -- we really enjoy bringing them with us -- it's a very neat family time, just hanging out in the villa!)

BUT... Got a call yesterday -- the baby is in the Children's Hospital. Apparently has a heart defect that is quite serious; will require surgery to correct. They have stabilized him for now -- we feel so fortunate that the defect was even detected -- it could have been even worse. THe drs told them that most infants with this defect are brought in already in cardiac arrest.

So please send some pixie dust and prayers Jayson's way, and to his parents, too, for his safe recovery....they need some "magic" up front right now to get them through this difficult time.

That is so sad. Sending prayers and pixie dust.

Pixie dust and prayers on their way to Jayson and family. Hope he will feel better real soon. God bless.

Hi,

Pixie Dust for Jayson's recovery & his family!!!

Allison an associate

Prayers for a speedy recovery. Hope all goes well. God Bless.

My prayers are with you and your godson. I was just sitting here yelling at my 21mo ds, now I am trying to get him to come and sit on my lap so that I can give him hug.

I hope everything works out.

Edward

I will be praying for Jayson and his family. God bless!! My heart breaks when I hear news like this.

If you are at the Childrens Hospital in Philadelphia they are the BEST for cardiology. Unfortunatley, I spent a week there with my daughter two years ago but the staff there were so great it made our stay... bearable. I feel for your family; we will keep Jayson in our prayers! Your entire family will NEED this vacation more than ever, so keep a positive outlook and continue to plan.

Think of you, and your family.

Hang in there.

Best wishes, Goldi

Prayers for the little one's speedy recovery. He'll make that trip and many more yet!

Pixey dust is for the fantasyworld. Prayers are for the real world. We'll be saying a prayer tonite for the little one and family.

I work in a level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and I see the heartbreak in parents eyes when a cardiac defect is diagnosed and it continues to break my heart every time. You are right to be very thankful this was diagnosed early!
I will add Jayson to my prayers tonight and until we hear back from you...please keep us updated!

Prayers your way for Jayson and your family. I had a son with a heart defect and I know it can be very upsetting and sad. Remember God watches over us especially little ones. May your holidays be a time to keep your family close and our prayers to you all.

First of all -- Thanks so much for your prayers thus far -- that's one thing you can NEVER have too many of! :) And it DOES make you pull your own children closer, doesn't it. I have 3 kids and marvel at how we were so fortunate not to ever have the many issues this family has had (among other things, at 17 weeks they had been told this was a Trisomy 18 baby and wouldn't survive... then ooops, we were wrong, he's perfectly fine...now this. It's one big roller coaster ride.)

An Update: through medication they were able to stabilize the baby's heart and it is returning to normal size. The parents were even able to hold him yesterday, and noted that the pink color had returned to his feet/ legs. Surgery is scheduled (to remove the constriction on the aorta) tomorrow morning. My BIL/SIL sound drained (physically/emotionally), but positive. If all goes well, there should not be any further surgeries necessary, so that is VERY good. And they caught it before it did damage to other organs. The drs anticipate keeping the baby in ICU for perhaps a day or two, then (barring no complications) only 4 more days in the hospital after that -- it always amazes me how quickly they crank 'em out, but these days, with all the flu-laden hospitals, perhaps one IS better off recovering at home. After that, he (the baby) will have regular monitoring over the next weeks, months, tapering off into yearly, etc. just to insure there's no scar tissue blockages, etc.

Thanks again, everyone. I'll update again later this week when our youngest mouseketeer-in-training is out of surgery.

Thanks for the update. Still sending prayers and pixie dust to Jayson and the family!!!:grouphug:

Prayers for little Jayson and his parents. Perhaps they will get this fixed fast, and he can still join you on your special trip.
