Pixie dust on our DREAM vacation! Update 06/08 TR finished!!

Wow that Remy experience looks really like a lot of fun. We thought about doing Remy but with everything else we were doing we put it on hold for another trip. (We booked two more cruises on this cruise.) ;)

We did do Palo on this trip. And the sea bass was to die for. Very very good. I was disappointed though that they took the pizza off the dinner menu. We asked our waiter and he said it was because it was not fancy enough for dinner. However, they still serve it at brunch. We are not big brunch fans and I was so looking forward to the shrimp and asparagus pizza. Love that.

Sorry, got carried away. But I loved reading about Remy and tonight I am going to show DH your pictures and report. Thanks!

Thanks for your Remy review....I still have no desire to eat there though. It just isn't my style.
I am surprised they didn't change the napkins out. I had heard that they often give those in dark clothes a black napkin.
I would've been falling down with all that wine. I can't beleive how they keep serving a new glass with every bit of food.

Yes I hope we have a date at Remy on the Fantasy!:thumbsup2 I plan on doing the FE on the Fantasy too!! I just don't plan to do it on the Dream, 4 nights seem to go so fast and I felt like we stayed so busy it was over before I was ready!! Karin you should of seen me running to the opposite end of the ship each night to iron Mick's pants for dinner. I have to find a travel iron to use in the stateroom!

:woohoo: YES, Remy for a party of four! Now that should be lots of fun. :thumbsup2

Teri, as far as I know travel irons are not permitted on board. There is a whole list of items that you are not supposed to bring on board.

AND, does that mean that I can put you on the FE list for our summer cruise? ;)

Remy is definitely a nice experience, just don't expect that there is a real restaurant like this in France. ;)

:dance3: 2 more cruises booked? Best decision ever! Doesn't it feel so good to know that you are going back? :cloud9:

Collette, our server at Palo told us that they were taking the pizzas off the dinner menu and she gave the same reasoning.
But even if you are not brunch fans you might give it a try - the variety is amazing and I am sure you would find plenty you'd like. We had brunch and it will be posted soon .... maybe the photos will convince you.

Jen, it took us over a year (and a menu change on Disney's part ) to commit to trying Remy. But it is a nice experience.
Even though they don't really fill your glass, there is SO much wine and some of them are quite heavy. Since I am not used to wine at all, I started "pouring" down water to water it down a bit. :rotfl2:

Day 4, February 21

“Is that Captain Jack over there?“ - Part 1

Again, we were up early that morning. The sun was just coming up and I eagerly walked out onto the veranda. I looked, I looked hard and there in the distance you could catch a glimpse of an island. Still far away but you knew it was there. We were close, close to heaven on earth.

IMG_3571.jpg

We had ordered our breakfast for 7.30 and it was still to early to get up, so I went back to bed for a little while. At about quarter past 7 we finally got up and I had a quick shower and was just about ready and making myself presentable while Tom was in the shower, when there was a knock on the door and our breakfast was delivered!

Once Tom was finished with his shower we took the tray outside on our veranda and watched the ship dock and merchants coming in. It was beautiful to sit outside and enjoying breakfast with the view of Castaway Cay. When we had finally finished our breakfast we got ready for the day at Serenity Bay, packing a bag with our belongings and it didn’t take very long until we heard the announcement that the ship was docked and we were allowed to disembark.
We walked to the midship elevators, met our stateroom host and exchanged a few words and finally arrived at the elevator. We went down to deck one, swiped our key cards and were off the ship. We picked up two towels and were on our way.

It was a picture perfect day, with wonderful blue skies and it was already pretty warm.

We took a few photos and walked towards the first tram,

but then we decided to walk

all the way up to the shops.

Since we were still early there were very few people actually walking there and we were the only guests in the shops. We looked around and bought one or two things, had a short but fun conversation with a British Cast Member and were on our way to the tram stop for Serenity Bay.

To be continued ..........

Ahhhhh! So beautiful! I'm so homesick now! I still have 211 days till I even fly down, so add a few more days till paradise.

Rosie's back! I just posted a reply on your thread! :goodvibes
You are right it was a lot of food, but that is what you do on a cruise ....... EAT!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:
It was so sweet because as soon as he had found out that we were from Austria, he started quizing us about wedding traditions and other things he wanted to do for his bride to be.
It just called for some Austrian sweets to calm his nerves! :thumbsup2

Awesome pictures! It is still cold here and it makes me long for a tropical place to go to.... I am getting pretty tired of cold and rain and still at times snow!!!

I love the pics of the ship at CC!! We have 150 days till we are back on the Dream.:cool1: I guess I will have to read up on how to make a FE. My DD is crafty maybe she will help me make one. I didn't realize a travel size iron wasn't allowed, guess I will send his things to be pressed on the ship.

I know after drinking all that wine at Remy, I wouldn't remember what I had to eat!:lmao:

Oh to be on Castaway Cay in February, well anytime for that matter!

Looking forward to more.

Yes I am back !!I think you posted on my thread right around the time I posted my GOOD News !!!!!!:banana::banana:

Castaway Cay looks wonderful !!!

Dinner at Remy is $75 per person and the wine tasting is $99 per person, so you are talking 350$ plus an added tip for the sommelier there. Now, add in a nice tip for your server. ;) :lmao:
We were glad we did it and maybe you could show your DH the new menu. We had NO desire whatsoever when they came up with their first menu, but they have tweaked it a bit now and it is much more appealing.
And btw, we LOVE Palo, as it is much more authentic to a real Italian restaurant. :thumbsup2

We've done both Palo dinner and brunch and loved both. With the shorter cruise though we figure we only have time for one so are targeting dinner. At $150 more plus wine for the 2 of us, Jeff just isn't sold on spending that much extra. $40 isn't a big deal but $150 does make us really question if it's worth the extra plus it might be a bit drawn out for his taste. Palo was a nice 2-3 hours as it was without all the extra courses and felt just right.

Who knows though, he's been full of surprises lately.

I love the idea of room service before Castaway Cay, might have to totally copy that idea for breakfast!

When we left Austria there was SO much snow, so this felt like a whole new world (can't stay away from the Disney lines :rotfl2:)
Going throught the photos made me pretty "homesick" though. :lmao:

We will all be back soon, Teresa! And once we get into the double digits, I know time will fly. (It did with our February trip and with our DLRP trip as well).
Teresa there is a lot of information on FEs in my first post on our cruise thread. There are lots to have on ebay and etsy too! ;)
I am pretty sure travel irons are not allowed on the ship, as I wanted to bring one myself, then read up on what was not allowed and left it at home. :goodvibes

That's why I took a photo of the menu, to help me remember! :rotfl2:

CC is beautiful any time of the year and Serenity Bay is just heaven, so quiet and laid back ....... :cloud9:

WOW!! LOVE this group of photos, Karin...so beautiful!

Thanks, Christine!
It is such a beautiful island ..... only Disney can come up with something like it! That's why we love everything and anything Disney so much, it's simply perfect!

CC is just so beautiful, Rosie. I really hope that your organization does a Disney cruise real soon, so you get to experience it for yourself! :goodvibes

You are having the exact same thoughts we had. We both were shocked at the 75$ upcharge and winepairing at 99$, but it is worth it in the end, if just for the experience.
Actually we were done in about 2 1/2 hours and we have taken longer eating at California Grill. That is what I did not like - the fast paced meal, so in the summer I will make sure to let them know to space it out just a little bit.

We love room service before CC and with our stateroom being on the island side (port side out) it is just the perfect starter for a perfect day.

Day 4, February 21

“Is that Captain Jack over there?“ - Part 2

We looked around and bought one or two things, had a short but fun conversation with a British Cast Member and were on our way to the tram stop for Serenity Bay.
A tram was pulling in just as we approached and we hopped on. There were only about 6 passengers going out to Serenity Bay. We were greeted by a sign that apologized for the state of the beach, but weather conditions had not been good.

IMG_3606.jpg

We expected to see a really bad beach, but apart from more kelp like green stuff, the beach seemed pretty nice.

IMG_3607.jpg

IMG_3608.jpg

First off we looked for some sun loungers. So we walked a few steps up the beach and found two chairs underneath an umbrella and there was actually a little space between those chairs and the next ones, so we made those ours.
We put our stuff and towels on and started applying sunscreen. It felt just so good to sit there in your shorts and T-shirt and enjoy the sun.

IMG_3581.jpg

IMG_3584.jpg

It was still early in the morning, but we wanted to test the water. So once sunscreen was rubbed in we walked down to the water’s edge and stipped a toe in.

DSCF1331.jpg

The water was ……. cold, coldish!
The longer your feet were in it the more comfortable you felt in it. We decided it was too early to take a dip, but we could walk along the edge to the end of the beach. So we walked in the water and were amazed at the shells

and schools of fish that were in even shallow water. Walking in the water it took quite a while until we arrived at the fence that divides the guest’s beach from the unused area. We took a few photos and then slowly walked back, stopping now and then to pick up some shells or parts of it, to look at and then threw back.

DSCF1335.jpg

Our walk took until 10.30, when we returned to our chairs, applied more sunscreen and waited for one of the Cast members to order a drink. It didn’t take long and one came by and we ordered

two Konk Koolers. They were delivered shortly after and we sat and enjoyed the blue waters and blue skies and the warm sun on our skin and the cold drink in our hands. We were both soaking in the sun when our eyes caught someone.

To be continued ..........

I love your detailed Remy review and definitely want to try it on our Fantasy cruise next year.
I just hate this typical speed dining, but I guess that most customers prefer it.
