Intro: Welcome fans! You are about to embark on the Pixie's tour of the "World" which happened September 20-26, 2001. This "zippa-dee-do-dah" sing-a-long is ticket-free and open to anyone who is daring enough to come along….

Some have asked how this tour came about. Well, here's some background information for you: A previous tour was enjoyed in 2000 with a whole bunch of "roadies" to boot. Not only were the Pixie Chicks involved but family members were also included: Pops/Gramps, Tiger (my own DH), and the three musketeers: Bippety (nephew #1, celebrated his 12th birthday on tour), Boppety (niece, 9 at the time), and Boo (nephew #2, 8). The musketeers had never been "on tour" before and although their manager (mom) had to stay home, they still managed to have a wonderful time! The tour was such a success-due, in great part, to the DIS-that upon finding the $49 All-Stars rate in March, the Pixie Chicks banded together and decided to tour again in September 2001. This trip would leave the roadies behind and give the "Chicks" quality time together alone.

Bio:
Pixie #1: Me! Quasi-manager of this tour and distinguished DIS junkie; been 'round the World four times; celebrated my 27th BD on the 13th of Sept. but continued to celebrate it on tour (more about this in later reports!); "day" job: labor and delivery night nurse; leaving DH at home due to school responsibilities. Favorite Disney character: Tinkerbell

Pixie #2: "Princess Pumpkin" (i.e. Pun'kin) 'Lil sis and best friend of Pixie #1; been 'round the World six times; slowly becoming indoctrinated in the DIS culture; 24; "day" job: social worker in emergency department (but still a fan of ER); leaving cat at home due to fear of flying. Favorite Disney character: Eeyore

Pixie #3: "Mommy Mouse" (i.e. "MM") Disney mom of above Pixies, has been 'round the World 9 times, 54; "day" job: secretary for family business. Lover of all things Disney-we have her to blame-I mean, thank for our obsession! Leaving Pops (DH) at home due to fact that he's not a fast walker and would slow us down. Favorite Disney character: Mickey…of course.

Schedule for the day: Arrive at MCO at 12:15pm and meet up with MM and Pun'kin; take Mears to ASMu; free day with hopes to resort hop and fill up on pressed pennies.

Let the music begin...
My day started bright and early around 4am…yikes! I was so excited to start the tour that I just could not sleep any longer. The day before I had, with the help of my DH, managed to pack all our "gear"(which included snack packs of chips, peanut butter crackers, and poptarts) into one rolling suitcase, one duffel bag to carry on, and the ever-present "Disney" pack. WHEW! Thank goodness I married a guy who can pack or I would have ended up lugging way too much stuff. Off to airport. My flight wasn't to leave until 9ish, but since my husband had to be at school around 8:00am and I didn't know how much time would be needed with all the extra security stuff, I was dropped off at 7:20am. Twinge of sadness that DH couldn't come all mixed in with nervousness of first flight after attack. Upon checking in, I was immediately asked if I wanted to leave earlier than 9am. (Keep in mind that I'm going out of Fayetteville, NC…tiny airport) "Sure!" I said with a smile, relieved I wouldn't have to hang around a quiet airport for hours waiting for another flight. The only "IF" would be getting on a earlier flight in Charlotte to Orlando but they reassured me that since the flights were flying so empty, this really wouldn't be a problem. Reassured, I went straight through security and boarded the plane…all within about ten minutes of being dropped off at the airport! I really wanted to get to Orlando early-it would only be about an hour earlier than planned, because MM and Pun'kin were flying in from Rochester, NY, and would be waiting around for me. I was nervous on that flight to Charlotte and thought a lot about all those people that were killed on the planes via the attack. Luckily, it only took 30 minutes to get to Charlotte, NC, and from there I found my connecting terminal and made standby to boot for the 9:44am flight to Orlando. Yeah! Hopefully, my bag would follow as assured it should.

I am beginning to get excited now as I see lots of kids and people wearing Disney T-shirts, hats, etc. To MCO…what a nice airport!…take monorail and still can't believe that I got here so quickly! It's at this point that I decided to see if MM and Pun'kin are retrieving their bags yet as their plane had just landed too! What great timing…which would continue to be a theme throughout our tour. I made a big entrance by sneaking up behind them as they waited for their baggage….everyone screamed (with joy) and the tour officially began!! After finding out that my bag has, in fact, not made standby, we decide to wait for my original flight to come in with it. We lunch at Chili's since we have an hour to spare and have a nice time of catching up…the Pixie's haven't been together since July, you know. I ordered a fabulous turkey club with fries and water to drink which totals $8.00. After lunch, great timing strikes again as my bag magically appeared around the conveyor belt at exactly the time we get there! Wow! We boarded Mears after a 20 minute wait-lots of people waiting-and get to take a Disney cruise bus to ASMu which just so happened to be the first stop…what luck! Along the way, we all chatted how we WILL go on the cruise…"someday"…On entrance to the World, I started to clap, and a little boy across the aisle looked at me and started to clap too! Already, I am influencing others in the Disney spirit.

Tip for Today: Did you know that the Orlando airport has plenty of places to watch Disney movies while you wait for flights?? They also have a neat dog/cat store with plenty of original items to look at for your pet.

Intermission: we will continue The Pixie Chicks World Tour-Day One/Part Two after a brief break. Thank you!
