Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun! parade photos

From pictures looks a lot like the Block Party Bash - floats and characters mostly the same.

I'm confused. We were at DHS on thursday, 12/2 at 3 pm and there was a parade that had the exact same floats that are in those photos. My DS loved it but I'm wondering if that was a soft opening or what? Very confused. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Here's a video: http://www.studioscentral.com/blog/2011/01/16/pixar-pals-countdown-fun-premieres
They recycled floats, costumes and props from Block Party Bash, it's not high energy like BPB, it's the same song over and over again and it's only minutes long...we were at least expecting new floats, or like the ones from DCA...it was not well received. After watching the video you be the judge

that's too bad bc my son LOVED the block party bash. Why would they dumb it down?

I don't know what is up with the Entertainment dept. at Disney World, but I just watched a video of the Play parade at DHS and it is a poor version of the DCA original. The music is the same, and that's where the similarities end.
I saw the Pixar Play Parade at DHS this summer and the floats, the energy, the choreography blew this piece of crap out of the water.
It was the same thing with the Shake it! Celebrate it! monstrosity that is a poor version of the now retired Celebrate a Street Party from Disneyland.
It's like they are serving up freshly squeezed orange juice in California and then trying to pass off Orange Kool Aid in Florida.
Shame, shame.

Great pictures! I generally don't get to see the DHS parades as we usually spend the afternoon of that day at AK.

I think I'll make it a point to check this out when I'm there in Feb.

Budget cuts.

Words can't even express how dissappointed I was in this "new" parade. It's like a slap in the face. I loved Block Party Bash, I loved everything from the hilarious green army men to the high flying acrobats.

Don't even get me started on the music. I don't blame the performers they were giving it their all.

I will be writing a letter and I encourage everyone to do the same.

Really, REALLY disappointed in this parade.

I was disappointed when I heard BPB was going to be retired and replaced, but I had confidence that Disney would come back with something just as good, maybe even better. How wrong was I?

Some of my gripes with this parade: Music is repetitive and far less engaging than BPB; the repainted BPB "block" floats look cheap and exactly what they are, repurposed; virtually no interaction with the crowd, especially disappointing for the kids (that's not the performers' fault, there simply isn't time!); far less energy, far less choreography, just simply far less. ...and it's too darn fast and short! Just under six minutes start to finish. If you blink, you're sure to miss one of the characters scooting by. It's definitely not a "must see" or something I'd try to work into my schedule to see.

Quite a step backward from BPB. :(

While I share the general feeling of slight disappointment, in reality it is a fact the thousands of people who never saw BPB will go and watch the new parade over the years (?) to come, have no prior point of comparison and will think it's great. It's one of the bitter-sweet sides to multiple Disney trips.

I too am not impressed with the parade. We watched a video of it yesterday and have seen the photos. They reused floats from the previous parade (which started at DCA years ago!). The 3 floats that were added for the Incredibles, Remy, and UP! are all exactly the same. Just stacked plywood boxes that were painted differently. And the song is not original and not impressive.

I haven't seen the new parade yet, but from the pictures it looks more like a "real" parade instead of the "street party" style. While we love the Street Party at the Magic Kingdom, we did not enjoy Block Party Bash nearly as much. It was a bit too loud and chaotic for our son (and myself!). I'm excited to see this new parade!

I still miss the Stars and Motor Cars parade music and the old movie characters as well (like Star Wars, Mary Poppins, plus the 90s movies). I wish they would incorporate both the older film characters and pixar together just for fun (not sure if they do on this new DHS parade, actually, since I haven't seen it yet).

Really?! You would rather watch floats slowly go by with characters waving then watch an innovative parade/show like BPB?! You didn't like the acrobats, live Green Army Men, the interactiveness, great choreography, energy, none of that? I don't understand all of these people that are simply satisfied with this new parade and parades like the ones at MK and DAK. This parade is terrible! It's one huge budget cut and people don't seem to realize that! The best parade WDW has had in a long time or probably ever has been butchered down to this. But it has four more characters in it so that automatically makes it better! Oh and you can watch it all slowly go by in six minutes. So much more enjoyable and TDO likes that too! So all of you people that enjoy boring entertainment like this continue to let TDO keep cutting and cutting giving us terrible entertainment. As soon as we got something GOOD, they ruined it. Congratulations to all of you who didn't like BPB, enjoy your new parade.

Ehhhhhh
Just average
WOW, I hope this is temporary....
This is nothing new; the dancers didn't match the Pixar theme, it's all characters I can see elsewhere...

And: If I waited on a curb for 30-45 minutes before the parade, I'd be disappointed...

I LOVE Pixar Characters, but this nothing fabulous & magical & WOW!!

Come on DISNEY Folks, Dazzle Us !!

watched the video and all i could think was REALLY?????? that's it?? You're kidding right? the characters don't even have time to interact with anybody...i used to think bpb was kind of annoying and not something we NEEDED to do but the kids LOVED it...and they bring in this garbage? way to go disney...............:sad2:
