DH and I are very blue this weekend. We had to have our beloved 9 yo dog, Sam, put down yesterday. Neither one of us can seem to stop crying...

DH is working a college fair today and I am off to run some errands, but we just cant seem to get this off our minds....

:( I'm so sorry. Paging Dan Murphy - where's that "Rainbow Bridge" piece? I think it's needed.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your dog :( It's always hard to lose a beloved pet

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I've been in your position and you have my deepest sympathies.

Hey, you guys deserve this pity party. What a sad, hard thing to have to do. I know DH and I will be devastated if we ever have to put down our beloved Winnie Pooh, our golden retriever. Cry all you want until you get it all out. Then when you are feeling better, why don't you get all your pictures out of your dear Sam, and make a nice scrapbook tribute that you can enjoy for years to come. I would be happy to point you in the right direction to get started if you've never done one before. Hugs.

Sadly, I had been long awaiting Club Scrap's pet kit, which I just learned they came out with. It will help to make a nice memorial scrapbook. Having no children, we have plenty of photos of Sam.

Thank you all for your reassurance and good thoughts.

I think with your enjoying scrapping as you do, poohbear, you will have many wonderful hours with memories of your Sam. Our fur families are such an integral part of our lives, joy to have, sad to part. As many times as I have posted this Rainbow Bridge thought, it still brings a smile to me, hope one for you both also.'s

Just this side of heaven is a place
called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet
goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and
play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and
comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those
who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember
them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss
someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and
looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs
carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you
cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses
rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once
more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never
absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Pity parties are for feeling sorry for no good reason.

You guys have a GOOD reason.

Our pets love us and give us more than any human is able to do. They love us unconditionally. Every human being needs that! When we love an animal it's because of how important they make you feel. Losing that takes a huge part of that away....

Take it from one who lost her one and only dog over 20 years ago and has not been able to get another one since.

I've since lost 3 cats and the pain was horrible with each one. I now have 4 and my excuse is "it's better to have loved and lost than to NEVER have loved at all..." :p

You guys have a good cry and hang in there. It's hard!

God bless,

Robinrs

Oh, Poohbear, I'm so very sorry!!

I know how close we get to our furbabies, and how real the loss is. I'm glad you have years of happy memories to enjoy.

My Sambuca (12 year old Labbie girl) send hugs your way.

The loss of a furbaby is terrible, so sorry for you guys.

Thanks Dan for digging out the "Rainbow Bridge". It is always such a comfort to those who have lost a furbaby.

I am so sorry for your loss. It's so much more than losing a pet - it's losing a family member. God bless.

I'm so sorry for your loss poohbear.

PLEASE...come over to the petloss site. I had to put my lucy kitty down just a month ago today. She was my whole world. I don't know how I would of got throught it without the petloss site. They have a community board, poems, all kinds of things...and a VERY caring chat room. Everyone one there is so understanding. If you feel up to it, please stop by.

I am so sorry. I know how hard it is. I am facing the same thing very soon. One of our golden retrievers has many health problems. We've been told that she would most likely not survive the trip when we move to Florida at the end of May. Prior to that time, I will need to have her put down. It is breaking my heart. I keep putting it off. Everytime I bring it up, DD gets hysterical. The poor dog is not happy. She has trouble moving, she's allergic to everything and she now has a tumor. I know that it is the best thing for all concerned in the long run, but everytime I look into those big eyes it just about kills me. I know that someday she and me other beloved pets that went before her will be waiting for me when I get to heaven.

My thoughts are with you!
