Pirates on the Dining Plan!! A week of Disney dining! (with lots of pics!)

Oh man your last post is killing me, all my favorite items in one post! Soft silky eggs, what a perfect way to describe the best breakfast sandwich ever!

Oh well, 2 months and 3 weeks to go before I can stuff my face again!

Thanks!! It was YOU who inspired us to go there and try their breakfast items! ;)

I have really enjoyed your reviews! Thanks for doing that!

Thank you! :flower3:

I adore cinammon rolls in disney. :worship:

They are really wonderful - and HUGE!!!:goodvibes

Mmmmmm!!!! I just love this sandwich, but I can't figure out why it's such a big deal. I mean, it's not like I can't have a tuna sandwich anytime I want at home, but this is seriously the best tuna sandwich EVER! Must be the pixie dust, I guess.

Well, we can't get those sandwiches here in Austria, so to me it is a VERY special treat!

Loved the Ohana review. I can't wait to go there in September. You are hitting a lot of my must-dos on that trip. And I love that tuna sandwich too!

Ohana's is one of our all time favourites! The food is really good, the atmosphere fun and their bread pudding devine!! :cloud9:

I am LOVING this dining review! I have never once thought of trying Spoodles! It just replaced Chef Mickeys on my list for August! I also love that you are including your CS meals too...that's great! :lovestruc

I am glad you enjoy the reviews! Spoodles was wonderful - try that dessert, it is devine!
I'll see you there in August! :yay:

lol I know what you mean, but I always reckoned that in between the burgers, hot dogs and pretzels available, my body was just craving a nice simple sandwich.... pure heaven...lol

Simple sandwich??? ;) Well, it is made with lots of pixie dust, so it must be yummy!

Loving this DR! So many yummy choices, and lots of Wolfgang Pucks! We always make a few trips here as well, I love the BBQ quesadilla and the Pasta with Chicken Bolognese! Mmmm, so yummy!:goodvibes

Thank you! I am glad you like it here. WPE is just such a good use of a CS credit! I need to try the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla next time - I just can't part with the pizzas - they are SO good!!! :lovestruc

Okay, I think I owe you all an apology for my absense!

Sorry for not updating!!!!!!!!!!!

- reason 1, WORK! :teacher: I wish it would not take that much time away from my Disneyfriends :goodvibes

- reason 2, Disney's Photopass! We had about 150 photos taken and the first ones expire in 3 days, so I had to get those borders on! Unfortunately their site was/is extremely slow at times and it takes AGES! But in the end I ended up with 1377 photos, all ordered and I am ready to do more reviews! :surfweb:

Coming right up: Yak & Yeti

Dinner at Yak & Yeti

On the way back to the resort, we discovered that Tom had gotten really sunburned while videotaping the parades and shows. So we went to the shop at Old Port Royale to get some after sun lotion. Who would have figured that we would get a sunburn in February????

We "chilled" a little at the resort before we drove over to the Animal Kingdom, which had Evening Extra Magic Hours that day.
Our reservation at Yak and Yeti was for 4.30 and we went straight to the restaurant.
We were seated within 2 minutes and our server explained the dining plan in great detail, asked for the Key to the World and kept it until we were ready to leave again.
We ordered Diet Cokes, as always and we both had a speciality drink.

IMG_0639.jpg

Tom had the Yak Attack - Mango Daiquiri, Bacardi Light Rum, and Wildberry Flavors. Yum, yum!!

IMG_0638.jpg

I had the Strawberry Daiquiry. I had had it last time and it is soooooooo good! Sweet and lots of strawberry flavour. Very nice drink!

Since we had had a rather late lunch we skipped the starter, even though I really want to try the wokfried beans! Well, maybe next time!

IMG_0645.jpg

Tom decided to try the Crispy Mahi Mahi - filet of mahi mahi, Japanese bread crumbs, Cantonese sweet and sour sauce, jasmine rice, stir-fried vegetables. It was a huge and thick piece of fish and it was very tender and juicy, not dry at all! Very good dish!

IMG_0642.jpg

IMG_0643.jpg

I had the Shaoxing Steak and Shrimp - skirt steak, tempura-battered shrimp, jasmine rice, stir-fried vegetables, chili plum dipping sauce. The steak was HUGE and was cooked perfectly, even though it was thin. The shrimp were crisp and plump and juicy, the rice could have used a little more salt, and the veggies had a lot of peppers. The chili plum dipping sauce goes so well with the shrimp, it was really a feast.

IMG_0647.jpg

We both had the Fried Wontons - Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey vanilla drizzle. As you can see one portion doesn't have ice-cream. This would be mine. Not that I do not like ice-cream, but that one is the most tasteless ice-cream ever. It tastes like frozen milk - :scared1: Tom didn't eat much of his ice-cream either.
The wontons on the other side are heaven on earth. The clean fresh taste of the pineapple and the warm crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside wontons are just what the doctor ordered. We definitely both cleaned our plates.

After dinner we went and rode Everest - nothing better than riding a coaster after a heavy meal! :lmao:
We rode Dinosaur and checked out the trails that lead up close to the Tree of Life. At the end of one of the paths there was Nala greeting kids, so we had to "hide" for a while before we could signal the greeter we wanted to get by.

IMG_0668.jpg

We rode Everest one more time before we left the park and returned to the resort to treat our sunburned skin and have an early night.

IMG_0674.jpg

Back at the resort we opened the bottle of "Pink Cupboard", ups, that's "Rosa Regale", but we had to translate it! I had heard so much about it on these boards, so when we found it in a supermarket, we picked up a bottle and chilled it and tried it. Well, we both decided that we did NOT like it at all. I only had one sip and that gave me goosebumps. But we don't all have to have the same taste, do we?

I am happy you enjoy "coming along" on our adventures in food! As for the $$ amounts - you are talking to the Austrian Scrooge McDuck here. Not that I have that much money, but I like to save a penny or two! ;)

Great reviews! Can't wait for more! :surfweb:

Thank you! I am uploading more photos as I type and it should not be long now!popcorn::

Breakfast at Wolfgang Puck's Express, an ice-cream snack at Ghirardelli's, lunch at Le Cellier

We were up early and decided to have another breakfast at Wolfgang Puck's Express. On the way there I decided to try something sweet, but then ....... reading the menu I changed my mind.

IMG_0692.jpg

We started out with some coffee (better stuff than the regular Disney coffee) and some very nice hot tea and some orange juice for both of us.
Our main courses did not take long to come out.

IMG_0696.jpg

Tom had the Denver, Denver - peppers, ham, onions, mushrooms, cheddar and mozzarella cheeses in a GIANT omelet! It was loaded with HAM, lots of veggies and cheese and the breakfast potatoes were very crisp on the outside and soft on the inside! Oh heaven.

IMG_0693.jpg

I had my heart set on the Three Cheese, Tomato and Basil - mozzarella, parmesan and creamy goat cheese omelet! I love the three cheese pizza, so this was an easy winner. It was a HUGE omelet filled with a LOT of guey cheese, tomatoes and fresh basil. I am not a huge fan of goat's cheese but their goat's cheese is creamy and tastes so fresh - :cloud9: ! Potatoes were the same as Tom's and even though I wasn't all that hungry we still finished our omelets! They were SO good!

We walked around Downtown Disney for a while, picked up a few pins and shopped a little more at the Christmas store. We needed to pick up one more print (and a cross stitch pack for me ;) ) at the Art shop and happened to pop into the new "Design your own T-shirt" shop. First we watched for a while and then decided to "design" some T-shirts of our own. We got two T-shirts for a friend's kids and it was real fun. Once the designs were done we paid for them and were told it would take about an hour for them to be done. Hm, that meant we had another hour to spend at Downtown Disney. What about some Ghirardelli chocolate? We went and picked up a sample but then noticed that the soda fountain was half empty.
Ice-cream???? - Yes, please!

IMG_0697.jpg

I only lately developed a taste for peanut butter, so this was what I HAD TO get - The Gold Rush - Peanut Butter Hot Fudge Sundae - Vanilla ice cream with hot fudge and melted peanut better throughout. Topped with whipped cream, roasted peanut halves, cherry and Ghirardelli Squares milk chocolate. It might go straight to one's hips, but it is so WORTH it!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was really yummy.

IMG_0702.jpg

Tom decided on the Strike It Rich - Butterscotch Hot Fudge Sundae - butter pecan ice cream with butterscotch and golden almond nuggets under a layer of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, chopped almonds and a cherry and it was yum, yum as well! What a way to spend an hour waiting for your T-shirts to get ready.

We picked up the T-shirts and went over to Epcot for our lunch at LeCellier. We arrived a little before our ADR time, but signed in none the less and were seated about 5 minutes later. They seated us at one of the tiny tables in the middle of the restaurant and we had a female server. She told us about the Chef's special, but I already knew what I wanted. We skipped appetizers one more time because we had had those enormous omelets and the ice-cream AND had dinner at the California Grill booked.

We ordered our Diet Cokes and soon the server returned with them

IMG_0714.jpg

and she brought out the different breads as well. We snacked on them a little while we waited for our main courses.

IMG_0717.jpg

This was what I had wanted, even before we had left Austria. The Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon - with wild mushroom risotto, white truffle and herb butter sauce. The Filet was melt in your mouth, cooked perfectly medium, unfortunately the risotto was made with long grain rice and rather a sticky mess, but it still tasted nice.

IMG_0720.jpg

Tom had the New York Strip Steak - with bercy butter, balsamic red onions, watercress, and roasted Yukon potatoes. This was cooked perfectly too and the potatoes, onions and watercress went VERY well with it.

IMG_0728.jpg

For dessert I chose the Apple-Rhubarb Crumble - served with Maple Granola Ice Cream. It is an unusual choice for me, since I usually go for either something chocolatey or citrus fruit. But I was SO glad I had decided on the crumble. This was really perfect. I thick layer of fruit, topped with crunchy crumble and the ice-cream melting into it! Oh, yum. I need to have that again in September!

IMG_0729.jpg

Tom had the Seasonal Sorbet, which happened to be pumpkin spice. As we didn't know what that was we were surprised to find out that it was mostly cinnamon. Tom ate quite a bit of it, but lateron complained that the cinnamon taste was lasting in his mouth.

We were STUFFED when we left the restaurant.

DDP:
WPE breakfast: $ 34.40
Ghirardelli = OOP
LeCellier: $ 79,90
Paid for DDP $ 560
Left $ 133,90 - $ 34,40 - $ 79,90 = $ 19,60
Next up: Breakfast at Wolfgang Puck's Express, an ice-cream snack at Ghirardelli's, lunch at Le Cellier and a late dinner at the California Grill.

I need to get my rear end over to WPE for breakfast, your omelette looks to die for, I am totally loving the foods you pick because that is exactly what I would eat too!!

Your filet is HUGE! I agree about the risotto, Todd and I both had a clumpy thick mess under the filet...good but a bit pasty and very rich!

Whats next?? :worship:

You HAVE TO try WPE for breakfast!! Those omelets are HUGE! and loaded with stuff! We only discovered breakfast there this trip and I am totally  with the place! LOL!

I am such a risotto snob, since Tom makes a heavenly one, so the one at LeCellier was a bit of a let down.

And next up - my can't go wrong all time favourite ............

California Grill!!!!!!!!!
