Pirates of the Caribbean 4!!!

I heard Variety said it was May 22, 2011

I just don't know...I LOVED the first two but AWE?

I haven't seen the entire film in one sitting since summer 2007.

I actually liiked the 3rd one better than the 2nd.. :rolleyes1

I just read that Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are not returning for POTC 4. No Will or Elizabeth...:confused3

I hate to break it to you all, but I can guarantee that POTC 4 is going to suck.

1. There's nothing else to mention in the story. What else is there to show?

2. Honestly, I felt the 2nd and 3rd were terrible, so there is no doubt in my mind that #4 will be just as bad.

3. No orlando bloom or keira knightley will have a big effect.

Sorry folks, that's what I think. I think Disney should start other projects. I will probably not go see POTC 4.

Different strokes for different folks.
I think the Will and Elizabeth story ran it's course. ;) Unless Davy Jones and his ship made a guest appearance. But that is about all I would not mind seeing.

I heard that the Flying Dutchman was run a-ground somewhere. :thumbsup2

I'm a bit annoyed that it's not even being filmed in the Caribbean...Hawaii!

I know that California is hurting for jobs as well, but I know a lot of the crew and extras for the last three were from Florida so that is disappointing. Our jobs situation just gets worse and worse.

This is even worse than deciding Orlando was unfit to have a premiere.

I guess I am in the minority too. My family & I enjoyed all 3 popcorn:: and are looking forward to 4. I mean they hinted to the Fountain of Youth and did introduce his dad so there might be some pretty interesting twists there to follow up on. Now, as for that annoying Keira w/ those weird lips & Orlando Bloom pls leave them out as IMHO they have finished their journey. :lmao:

me too. but i love barbosa, so i think that played in to why i didn't enjoy the 2nd as much.

i will also miss davy jones. but i won't miss elizabeth. kiera knightly drives me insane. i cannot stand how she "emotes" with her jaw.

as long as we have johnny depp and geofrey rush, i'm there. :thumbsup2 i think the scenes with them together are my favorites!

You must be psychic or something to be able to make such a guarantee taking into account the movie has not even been filmed yet.

Many keep wringing their hands asking "Why is Disney doing this? Why are they making a 4th installment?". I will tell you why, it is simple, it is because of the $2.6 billion that the first 3 have made the company. Hello, that is HOW DISNEY EXISTS, by making money, and as a share holder, that is what I would like to see them do.

Hey Travel Man, I will make you a guarantee. I will guarantee you that 95% of the people that attended the first three pirate movies will also go see the fourth. Do you know what that makes Pirate's 4? A huge $uscce$$.

I have no idea how many James Bond movies there have been, but with the exception of few stinkers here and there, the series have been a huge financial success. Of course if Bond where just starting today, and being made by Disney, there are a small percentage here that would never want to see the series get past the number (oh let me think....) 1!

Hey magic fanatic, let me tell you something. You ... You shareholder apologists are exactly what is wrong with Disney these days. Walt would HATE you...Absolutely DESPISE you! Defend profit taking all you want but it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the dream that Disney was started with. So sad. Pixar had it figured out ... How long until Disney ruins them?

Johnny Depp is the greatest actor of the decade and the original Pirates was one of the best films of the decade but to condone ... No advocate sequels puts you in the same catagory of those who decided to make Alvin and the Chipmonks the squeekwell ... Congratualations, you're a genius.

Okay "Peter Pirate", Disney had been dead for 44 years so I doubt you rally have any idea of who the man would hate or despise other than what you have read in books. For some reason, you have decided to take my post and make it personal, thats your choice.

Just because a few people post on a message board and say they did not like a movie does not make it a failure or a poor decision. The only way I know of to measure success is by how many people by tickets to go see the movie and by looking at the numbers all of the Pirate movies were huge successes as will the next one.

Answer me this question. Why is it okay to develop a TV series that runs week after week, but it is not okay to develop a series of movies? There were 6 Star Wars movies, not all were as good as the others, but they were hugely successful and the audience wanted to see them. The same goes for James Bond, as I mentioned before. So why not Pirates? Did you also attack Toy Story 2? Should Disney cancel Toy Story 3?

Look, Disney is a publicly traded company made up of shareholders that invest their money on it's success. The next time you "channel" Mr. Disney why don't you ask him about the this? This company was made up of shareholders long before he died and that risked their money to invest in his success.

Please don't lecture me on the "dream" of Disney or how terrible profits are. I have read all of the same books you have read and share the same admiration of the man, but the simple fact is that Disney recognized early on that it takes investment to take an idea turn it into reality, which is why his brother Roy was instrumental in the success of the company.

I could go further and resort to the name calling and attacking you and what you thing but I don't know you so that would not be fair to you and anyone else that reads this message board.

LOL! "Sharholder apologist" is a personal attack? Whatever ... I just don't know how to talk to someone who claims to have studied Walt but is so positive to things that Walt would abhor, things that even those with a rudimentary understanding of Walt would understand. Do you think Walt was just lucky? Do you think Roy would have accomplished any of this on his own?

Walt's been dead for a long time, I grant you that but does it change what he stood for? Does it change the events that he put in place? Does it change what can be considered quality vs. what is greed? I don't think so but if you, in your infinite wisdon deem it so then there is no amount of pixie dust left at any Disney venue to get you to admit otherwise. Bring on 'Meet The Robinson's 2', I guess!

You really have a difficult time keeping up with your own statements so let me see if I can help. I never once claimed to have any idea of what Walt Disney would abhor or who he would hate. You, on the other hand, are the one that made those statements. Your exact words were, "Walt would HATE you...Absolutely DESPISE you!" I have never made statements like that, only you did. I have found your comments are somewhat contradictory. You see, after your first attack towards me I decided to go back and read other post that you have made. The funny thing is that in March 3, 2009 you made another post on another topic in which you said, "But I too realize that Walt is dead and no one knows what specifically he would do or like". So, from your own words you clearly admit you have no idea of what Walt Disney would or would not like, but then you claim that the man would "hate and despise me". Isn't it annoying when you own words come back to bite you in the butt! Of course, this won't bother you a bit, you will simply find another way to attack. From reading several of your 1,549 posts it is clear that this is your is your "M.O.". You come across as not liking business, not liking management, not liking shareholders and you don't like Disney as it is today. Come to think of it, after reading your post the only thing that I can see that you do like, or enjoy, is being a big shot behind a keyboard by criticizing most every topic on the board.

You seem to struggle sticking to the topic and have a real hard time when someone disagrees with you, so instead of having a discussion you instead start telling me how someone you have never met and that has been dead for 40 years would feel toward me. Besides being the silliest statement I have ever heard in my life, it does nothing to support your position and only makes you come across as immature and childish.

Money has been and always will be the life blood of Disney and every other company. That does not mean that I want to see sequels made of every movie Disney has ever made, but some of them actually work and are well received. Pirates 2, Pirates 3, and Toy Story 2 were all huge successes and the MONEY generated by those successes are what funds the new ORIGINAL movies that will come in the future. Of course, you chose to ignore those examples along with my other examples when I mentioned the James Bond series. Oh wait here is another example; Star Wars. If I am not mistaken there were 6 of those little films and as I recall they didn't do half bad. So, do you not like ALL sequels, or just the ones made by the Disney company? Oh, wait a minute how about Indiana Jones? I guess George Lucas and Steven Spielberg are just two more greedy greedy sob's too.

One last thing, when I mentioned Roy Disney it was in the context that, in everything I have ever read (he is dead too so I, unlike you, would never claim to know what was in the man's head) Roy Disney is credited in keeping Disney afloat by managing the money and bringing in INVESTORS and BANKS when needed to keep the lights on.

Okay, now I will wait patiently while you can take this post and twist it around like you did my last one, just try to stay on topic.

My son just asked me this morning, "When can we go see POTC4?" Yeaaaa. Although it looks like we have some time to wait still. At least there will be Alice in the mean time. :)

You bring up a good point, but you're wrong in some areas. A high grossing movie dosen't always mean its a great movie. I mean POTC 2 and 3 made a lot of money, but they turned out to be lousy movies. There's another issue that you're totally wrong about, you said that Disney's only reason that they're making #4 is to make a lot of money. Well here's the thing, Disney is an entertainment, recreation, and lodging industry. One of Disney's most important role is to serve guests. The guests are the ones who matter to them. They could care less that they made billions. They want the guests to be satisified, happy, and be served well. And by the way, how do you know that #4 will be successful if they hadn't start filming.
