Pirates of Carribean

Thanks Minnie Mum. I apologized on the other thread for posting twice. As mentioned, I had snuck in a post at work (i.e. when I shouldn't have been on the site) and thus, hadn't checked my notes that I already had researched this one. There are lots of rides at Disney and I had forgotten this one.

As for YouTube, I do watch the videos for some. But I find them dark and hard to tell what's going on. So I find the best way is to ask personally from those that have been on them before, and that's often the best way to get an idea. I thought that was what this site was for and didn't think that was a problem.

:confused3 Where did I say there was a problem? I had merely noticed that you had asked virtually the same question for POTC, Peter Pan and Jungle Cruise. And wanted you to know about other resources available to first time visitors that might be helpful.

Sorry. I won't make that mistake again.

Oh, no problem. Just explaining why I like to find out more about the rides on here...the best info is from personal experience of others. Plus am super excited abut Disney and so like to talk about it and find out more. Appreciate the suggestions though for other resources. :)

Just got an email from Disney that they changed my fast pass for. Pirates to something else I don't even want!

I would like to know why!!!
Now our 2 favorite rides Haunted Mansion and Pirates appear to be closed on our M k days! 12/17-12/19

Can someone explain this ride? (I didn't even realize it's a boat ride until i saw the other thread). Wil it interest a 9 year old boy AND a 5 year old girl?

Also, would it still be of interest if we have never seen the movie? My DS really isn't into pirates.

I rode it a couple of decades before it was even a movie. I was a child and LOVED it. Haven't really seen the movies and still do. I found the scenes fascinating then and now.

Huh!?!?!?!?!?!?!!

Any word on a refurb for this? This better not be down the same time as mansion!

I've never seen the movies. I don't care about pirates. One of the rides I look forward to the most. Nostalgic, nice lazy ride with just a little dip to keep it interesting!

Don't sit in the front row if you don't want to get wet.

This thread is from 4 months ago. The OP has already taken her trip.

Ha ha...yep, we've already gone....but great to talk about the rides after the fact. ;)
We did go on it and quite enjoyed. None of us have seen the movie so there was nothing to related it back to (even though the ride came first) but still had lots to look at. I think the drop in the dark startled my son as he still talks about it (and I forgot about the comments about it). My only complaint is that I was sitting on the side a few cars from the front and so I got soaked twice.

If you've seen the movies, it enhances your enjoyment of the ride because you know who Jack and Barbossa are. But there's nothing that really ties directly into the plot of the movies so it doesn't detract from your experience if you haven't seen them.

That's a recent "problem". They just replaced all the ride boats and many people have said you get unnecessarily wet now. With the old boats, you usually just got a light spritzing.

Yeah....wouldn't calli t just a light spritzing. Ha ha...oh well, i didn't melt.

The ride itself depicts various aspects of a Hollywood-ized view of piracy and pirates.

- A battle scene
- Raiding of a town
- Plundering
- The downsides of piracy
- Pirate ghosts

All of this is in good fun. The Jack Sparrow parts from the movie are thrown in there. This attraction has one of the best waiting lines of any attraction, and has some of my favorite background music.

A must-do.

My three year old was obsessed with POTC on our last trip in September. He is also a huge fan of the HM ride. I think if you just tell the kids about the drop they should be fine. The boat slide is a good way to describe it.
