Hey almost neighbor!
Pirates' Night is a must. It was the only deck party that we went to in the two weeks.
You must get a costume. Definitely. It is all part of the fun.
They have children's costumes onboard, but no adults. Lee got her's online in 1 week. There are several good places on the net to order them from.

I got our Pirate costumes on Ebay. Family of 4 for about $100.

But, on the Wonder not that many people were dressed. Party Poopers.

Just back from the 22 May Wonder. Not too many people dressed up, but our family did. We got a lot of great comments from the staff and other cruisers. Kid's costumes cost about $20 each from Party City. My costume was $100 ordered on line. DH costume totalled about $150; some pieces were ordered on line and others were made. He spent about 4 weeks working on his costume. pirate:

Okay - so trying to insert a picture didn't work. I'll try to figure it out and post it if I ever manage to.

Let's see if this works.

Well, I don't know how to make this larger, but if you want to see it larger it is in the Dis Gallery.

We dressed our boys up as pirates, my SIL made the costumes. It was alot of fun and the kids really enjoyed it!!!

There is some limited pirate merchandise onboard; however, I would recommend you take onboard anything you want to wear (stripey tops, hats, boots, eye patches etc...).

PIRATE NIGHT... WHAT a blast. That was the most fun we have had in many years. As far as costumes go, don't spend alot of money, unless you want to order a special costume. I couldn't see spending $100 online on a costume that might not fit right or look cheap. Besides, I had 10 people to dress so I didn't have that much money to spend. So I went to the local thrift store, searched around and found great pirate looking stuff.
I found my husband's striped pants for $1.50 and I bought a red t-shirt for him to wear, but we found a cool pirate t-shirt when we were in Puerto Vallarta for $10 and he liked it better.
I got most of our accessories: ear-rings, eye patches, pirate: bandanas, tattoos, moustaches, and necklaces from www.orientaltrading.com VERY inexpensive, but you have to buy more than one.. they come in bunches... like 48 eye patches for $2 or 12 pirate bandanas for $4.95 ... you can always "share" with your fellow cruisers.
I went to Party City and found Hooks and inflatable parrots to hook on your arm or on your shoulder if you are child sized. The parrots are a crack up, although on Pirate Night, we actually forgot to wear them!
If you stick to the basic colors... black, white, red, and stripes you will be fine. remember to have fun and say Arrrrrrrrrr alot, you will have a blast.

My SIL made pirate shirts for all the kids in our party (8) the kids loved them. They wore them to dinner and to the pirate party. We also brough pirate hats and hooks with us. We got the hooks at the dollar store. The hats we had from Disney World. They didn't really wear the hats as everyone gets pirate bandanas at the pirate dinner, even the adults. They were cool and everyone in our party wore them. Lots of fun!!

Pirates night was awesome.. We were in costumes and decorate our table at dinner.. Treasure chest with coins, beads etc.. then we put A pirate's life for me banners at either end.. Our chairs had pirates neckercheifs hanging from them.. Our head waiter Alexandra said it was the first time she seen guest decorating there tables and dress up the way we were.. We gave out eye patches to the cast members. Tatoos and coins to the kids..

Sailaway party is a must.

Hopefully I can post a picture when I get home.....

Pirates night is SO much fun! You don't have to dress in pirate sutff, you can also dress in "tropical" prints also. Plus you get a bandanna to wear on your head at dinner! Fireworks after the show on the deck - fun...fun...fun! pirate:

Hi I am a llittle confused about Pirate night. I have a tropical dress that matches my dh shirt...we were going to wear that on tropical night. I also have a cute pirate hat and accesories for my dh and I was going to purchase some costumes for our children. Is tropical and Pirate the same night/event?
Should I choose between the two outfits (tropical or Pirate) to wear for that night? Thanks

On the 7 day cruise they are the same night since orginally not many people wanted to dress like pirates...

Thanks. I am going on the 7 day cruise in August. I really wanted to wear both outfits :( Now I am going to have to decide which one.

you can still wear both. Wear the tropical outfir to Parrot Cay the first night you're there. They do a tropical night then.

We got some light up swords and other mask and pirate stuff at our local $0.99 cents store. Check the party stores. Also Lego Stores sell more pirate stuff but it is expensive.

I see that you were on the 4 day wonder, what evening was Pirates night?

thanks

I am going to be on the West Coast cruise, and on Tuesday, which I believe is Pirate night day, I will be going on the Swim with the Dolphins excursion at 4pm. Am I going to miss the Pirate night celebrations?

You will not miss the celebration. The partying starts around 9:00 but the actual 'show' starts about 9:45. The fireworks were after 10:00.

My children went to the dolphin swim. They loved every minute. They are older teenagers and the only pictures from our cruise that they are willing to have displayed are the dolphin ones.
