Pirates League

Hi guys,

After all the bookings with my ADR's, my missus isn't keen on anything else that is going to restrict us to a specific timeframe on our holiday. That being the case, she isn't keen on taking our son to the Pirate's League as anytime he's ever had his face painted, it hasn't lasted more than five minutes. He's a messy four year old so it's to be expected.

Now, even if I don't sign up for the whole thing can I still buy a pirates outfit for my son or are they restricted to those who buy the packages? He loves dressing up (firefighter, cowboy, pirate) so I feel that if I can still get him an outfit it'll be a good compromise.

Now let me hear you say YAAARGGHHH.

You can definitely buy a pirate outfit, there is an entire area devoted to pirate gear just outside of the pirates league.

I have to tell you though the pirates league is more than just them painting your child's face, both of my dd's did this last year and they loved it. At the pirates league you become a pirate and you learn to speak like a pirate, you get an official pirate name, and you get to go into a secret room where only pirates can go to search for treasure.lol

you'll also have a decent chance of being able to get a walk-up, so if you find yourself with an extra hour or so in the MK, feel free to enquire.

A walk-up would be nice. Hopefully it'll be pretty quiet in early May and we'll be able to do just that. My son had a great time with Captain Kidd and Smee back in 2008 so to have him dressed up and proclaimed a pirate should enhance the interaction no end.

I am aware that there are loads of goodies to be had in the POTC shop, I just wasn't sure if there where specific outfits that where restricted to those who bought the packages.

My DS loved the pirates league last year. My DS was 4 at the time. We actually brought our own pirate costume we purchased online, that helped keep the cost down a little. He also never had his face painted before but sat still. He got the face paint that was more subtle, a black eye, scar and a beard. He didn't rub it off, i think he actually forgot he had face paint on.

I'm sure he will love being a pirate even if he doesn't get his face painted.

If the item is hanging up in the Pirates Bazaar shop you can certainly purchase it. What they offer actually depends on TPL stock. If TPL has a lot of something then you can find it at the Bazaar. If TPL is low on a costume, or a specific size, then no, the shop will not have it.

You can always ask TPL if you can purchase a costume without a package... but about 99% of the time the answer will be no, especially on items they are really low in. Sometimes the exception is the Garb shirt, since it's a TPL exclusive and the Bazaar shop never carries it.

The make-up they use is stage quality and doesn't just rub off. Brenna (aka Berlioz70) did my 6 yo nephew in April and he isn't exactly a white glove kid. The make-up lasted all day and he loved all the attention he got -- both at the Pirate League and from CMs and guests throughout the parks. The experience is more than just having make up applied. If you think your little guy would like it, I'd say do it. It was well worth the time and effort. We did a couple of character meals, too, but would gladly have givef those up for this!

oh, soooo can't wait. If you call the disney reservation line for scheduling an appt w/pirate league, the message they play is AWESOME!!! After having heard the message, I called back 2 more times just so I could play it over the speaker for my hubby (who agreed that we had to sign up our boy-7) & then to play it for our son
