Pirates closed from

I just read on Mouseplanet that Pirates will close from May-September for refurb.. Oh well, if it is closed when we go at the end of May looks like we have an excuse for next year's trip!

Oh no! That's too bad. We are going 6/9 - 6/16 and taking a friend who has never been to WDW. We were looking forward to showing him that ride because it is so Classic Disney. Oh well. I'm surprised they would do the rehab right during the busiest time of the year like that.

Aw man, that bites. I've always like pirated and when we go in August it won't be open. Oh well, not like I haven't seen it dozens of times before anyway.

A POTC rehab is not on any of the official Disney sites, especially over the peak summer season. There's been a rumor floating around ever since the first movie was so successful but no firm dates. I'm going to believe it will be open during the summer--will be sure to let you know as we'll be at WDW for 2 weeks in June and July

I can't believe they would close it over the entire summer, especially when the new movie is coming out. It seems like it would make more sense to do these more extensive rehabs during a time when attendance is not as high and definitely not during the time of a movie release. Oh well, I'm not going to worry about it - I'll believe it when I see it!

I would really hate that. My dad has finally agreed to take a trip with us. This will be his first trip to the World in 21 years. His favorite ride was POC. Oh well...guess that gives us a reason to take him back sometime.

I'm going to pray this is just a rumor and not break this news to DH right now. Pirates is always our first ride when we arrive for our August vacation and I don't want to have to drag around a bummed-out husband for 10 days if his favorite ride is out of commission!

With Pirates 2 coming out in July...... IMHO.... I doubt they would have the ride closed during that time.
But.... stranger things have happened.

Hey, i hope it won't be closed over labor day week, but if it is closed i hope it is to add the Cap't and Barbosa. DS and ME looooooove POTC. For different reasons.... of course. DD and I were dreamily wishing and hoping that the premier will take place while we are in WDW with all the pomp and circumstance the first one had in DL. lol Hey! we can hope can't we.
