Pirates as a FP attraction

Anyone think Pirates should do away with the FP option and just utilize both lines as regular in an attempt to drop the queue? With a slow loading ride like that, I think it's problematic to have one line nearly empty for all the FP'ers while the other gets backed up to high heaven in the afternoon.

If you think it's a dumb idea, feel free to say so :)

I think something like that would definitely help, probably on a lot of rides as well. I personally like the fastpass because (of nostalgia) it's a must do for me when we go, and if the ride goes down then I can use the fastpass later in the day. Basically gives me more probability of being able to ride it. I'd hate to get to the front after waiting for a half hour and have it go down for a couple of hours. Wouldn't dare say it's a dumb idea

Pirates is one of the rides that to me has been negatively affected by FP+. Prior to it, they didn't have a FP available and waits were rarely over 20-30 minutes. Haunted Mansion was kind of the same way. In my non-scientific observations, wait times increased quite a bit with FP+ for those two (and Small World). I wouldn't mind them doing some experiments with removing FP for those rides and seeing how it affects wait times and number of riders. Maybe make those not always on the FP system...only when necessary to manage heavy crowd days or something. I know that would bug the people who like to have their schedules set in stone months in advance, but others would probably appreciate having a few more attractions that were free of FP+.

Couldn't agree more, lose the FP for this this one. When we went in Sept, at 7:00 pm there was a 65 min wait. . . .for Pirates!!! The queue was wrapping out of the attraction. We decided to skip it. I can't remember ever seeing a wait like that in Sept. :crazy2:

A few places that track line times were able to confirm standby times average 50% longer when FP is added to an attraction. That probably held true when FP was original introduced as well, there just wasn't any data from then. Intentional or not, FP+ has definitely changed how many (most?) guests approach rides and schedules.

I enjoyed pirates a lot more before the FP+ was implemented mainly because the way the lines were set up.

Before not many people knew you could go to the right instead of following everyone straight. So while there was say a 20 min wait, like 90% of the line was lined up straight ahead, we'd take that right side corridor and it would be nearly a walk on

Personally I love having fp+ on pirates.

It's a must do for us. Fp+ lets us plan the ride accordingly.

Yep. Pirates and HM were my 1st 2 thoughts of how standby waits have been affected by FP+. It's kind of a solution in search of a problem.
