Pirate night buffet the Dream

The last time we went to the buffet, they had chili, tortillas and the rest of the fixings for nachos/tacos, turkey legs, fruit salad, carved ham with rolls, crepes and assorted desserts.

Similar to what we saw on the Wonder a couple of weeks ago

The feeding frenzy is just after the fireworks.

Gird yourself for battle if you are going to brave it - clearly there are a whole lot of passengers who have been kept below deck starving for the whole voyage.

At least that was how it seemed to me the one time I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I could not even get close to the food line and it took 20 minutes to fight my way out.

I have seriously seen feeding frenzies on Shark Week calmer than Cabanas at that time.

what time is the pirate night buffet on the Disney dream?

One other thing to point out, after the fireworks, there is a "Pirate Dance Party" on the deck. If you stay for that, you will pretty much miss the Pirate buffet. If you really want to do both, you probably can, but you have to be deliberate about it.

Also, I didn't find the pirate buffet to be as crowded as i expected it to be, buy YMMV. Remember, as with all the buffets on DCL, you don't have to start at the front and wait for things you don't want. You are encouraged to go to the areas that interest you, and wait behind the people at those areas. I found many food items to have little or no wait, except in the first 10 minutes.

Second this tip, b/c you'll notice a lengthy line form after the fireworks largely b/c the nachos which they tend to put closer to the entrance seems to take longer, if you wish to skip the first section there was actually minimal wait for the rest.
Yes it is amazing how many people are starving at 10:45pm b/c it feels like some people havent eaten for a week...

The one time I tried to brave it to see what the fuss was about, there was no minimal wait anywhere. It was a feeding frenzy like nothing I have seen before all throughout Cabanas.

Poor starving people who had clearly been held without food for days upon days. /eyeroll

We sat down at a table and watched the fireworks and were one of the first through the line last week on the Dream.

Another thing to note is that some of the deserts can be found in multiple places, work your way to the back and it's empty (as in I got crepes, deserts, and fruit and had an entire seating section to myself))

I second this. Out of 4 cruises we only braved the pirate buffet once, on the Fantasy. The "normal" buffet line that runs down the side of Cabanas was a nightmare, and like sheep everyone was congregating at the tables in that area. Down the very back there was only a couple of other tables occupied. Much better.

I was surprised how short the buffet lasted. I had wanted to wait and just go get food a bit later but 45 mins is super short especially since u have to deal with lines. I wish it lasted 1-2 hours to have a more relaxed feel.

This is true. If you don't realize that it is only 45 minutes long, you can easily miss it. Having said that, most people don't stay nearly that long. Our experience was that by 20-30 minutes in, the lines/crowds were way down. So we got some things from the less crowded items first, and by the time we went back for the other items, the lines were mostly gone. As for how we managed to be hungry (short of being held prisoner below decks, LOL!), I can only plead the fifth. My teen-aged sons however, need no alibi. They are guilty as charged.

I am glad they are having it. We were on a Magic and Wonder in the last few months and didn't have one. I even emailed shoreside customer service to complain.

Agreed - in the minute after the fireworks are finished, the buffet is basically quiet and deserted. Then BOOM! The crowds come in. We usually can tell the fireworks are about over, and go into the buffet, get our food, choose a nice table, and watch the crowd which comes in a couple of minutes later. I like the idea of watching the fireworks from the buffet area, we'll try that next time.

For us, the buffet has always been timed right after the fireworks, shortly before 11 pm
