Pirate cruise?

my dd, then 4, loved it and will do it again on her next trip. the kids get life jackets, pirate hats, and board a boat at the GF docks singing pirate tunes. they sail to the other MK resorts and dig for treasure on the beaches (which they find) and then have a pirate lunch. very fun, takes about 2 hours.

We are thinking about letting our nephews do this in April. My only question that I can't seem to find an answer to is, Do they give you a pager when you drop off the child? Some of the kid programs do, but this one didn't say specifically on the description.

The decription I found was over on wdwig ..

I guess I would also like to know how they would handle a 'problem child'? Not that my nephews aren't perfect angels.. ok, well one is and the other isn't (but don't tell their parents that!) They are generally good kids, but one gets a little stubborn sometimes. I think that they would love this though, and would be having too much fun to misbehave. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!
Heather

No, they don't give out pagers..I'm not really sure how they would handle " problem kids". DS went on the cruise last year when he was 4 and he LOVED it. He came back with a bag full of loot :teeth: "gold coins" necklaces, platic spiders, plastic rings etc...They were also singing pirate songs as they docked. I think they keep them so entertained that there isn't time to act up!

My boys have done this twice in the past and we were not given pagers. My youngest is something of a "problem" child and was quite clingy last time he went. However, he had no problems leaving me for the Pirate Cruise!

I know there are two, if not three, CM's that go with the kids. I'm sure they keep them so busy and occupied there isn't much of an opportunity for someone to act out.

Here's another link for Pirate Cruise info. http://www.wdwinfo.com/just_for_kids/piratecruise.htm . Our three kids DS9, DD7, and DS4 did the Pirate Cruise last October 2003. They all had an amazing time, and really enjoyed themselves. It was definitely a neat thing to do. And the break mom and dad got for 1 1/2 hrs....priceless! I recommend it !

Be sure to get there early - they will pair your DD up with a buddy - it's easier if you find someone that they can meet a little while beforehand. You also need the time to find the right size life vest and get a pirate handkerchief/hat. My 5 yr old DS went in October and wants to go again this fall. Friends of ours almost missed the ressie - they were coming from WL - got on the boat to the Contemp fine - but were stuck on a monorail that was having some technical problems - cutting it a bit too close.

My son did the pirate cruise this past January 2004 and I was given a pager in case of an emergency. The last time he did this in Sept. 2002 they did not give a pager so not sure if this is something new they added all the time or not.

Does anyone know the ages allowed on the pirate cruise???? My kids wold love it but my twins will only be 3 yrs. old when we are going, almost 4 yrs old. Thanks

The pirate cruise is for ages 4-10. When DD did this in August 2003, we did not get a pager. The ladies that do the pirate cruise also do the Grand Adventures in Cooking and the Mad Haters Tea Party (all at the GF). They are wonderful!

DD loved all three of these and DH and I enjoyed the time to have a quiet lunch and shop.pirate:

My son had a wonderful time last July on this cruise. Below is a picture of him before they left on their adventure.pirate:

By your photo, I am guessing that they no longer give the ones with the ears on them. I thought I had seen them in the past.

Ratpack, unless they've changed since July, the bandanna was the only hat that my son received on his cruise. Hope you DD enjoys the cruise! pirate:

My son went on the cruise last October and loved it! He received an eye patch in his goodie back along with lots of other "treasure"

He LOVES pirates and had a pirate themed birthday party in January. He will definately do the cruise again next time we go back. Worth every penny!

Just a heads up...they serve peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, so if you have a child that's allergic to peanuts, the cruise is probably not a good idea for them.

Here is a pic:

DD got the pirate bandana with ears when she went last August. Maybe they were just out of them in July.

Thanks, I was beginning to think I was seeing things. Maybe they will have them this summer.

I just added a picture in my signature with her pirate ears on. They are really cute and the mousekeeper made a towel pirate and used them the next day. DD was thrilled!

The pirate cruise sounds great !

My son turns 10 in mid-April so I was wondering if he has aged out of this. We will be in WDW the 2nd week of April and although this sounds great, just wondering if anyone has sent their almost 10 yr old?
