Greetings!

This is LoriJ's DH and I have a question about the Pirate Costume for Pirate Night I'm trying to gather parts and accessories for if I may?

Other than the clothes, wig, bandana and vest and boots (etc) I'm hoping to add a sword (metal, non-deadly of the Bucaneer variety in a local sword shop with scabbard, skull and cross-bones imbedded) and a NON-functional black powder pistol (straight out of The Black Pearl movie) for my props.

My question is, especially for those who are maybe working ON the ship(s) or know someone who is, will Disney Security have a hissy fit when they scan my bag and find the metal sword and pistol? Once they see what it is, will I be allowed to bring it on board for use as props? I want to fit the part, as I do with ANY costume, instead of using a plastic sword, etc.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks Steve and Jord! The more I think about it, I'll just wear the costume by itself and if anyone asks about my accessories...I'll simply say the "Scalawags made me check my "effects" AT the door!"

I think you better contact Disney for the real truth on this one. Many could offer an opinion but only they can give an answer. If we say you should be okay and then get hassled big time in port that would NOT be a good start of your trip!

Good Luck though sounds like a good costume! pirate:

My opinion would be if it's not sold at the party supply store it's probably too real looking. Kids can't even bring the stuff you're talking about to school for halloween so I don't know about getting through security. Better check with Disney and TSA if you are flying.
