Pinto Beans - how do you cook 'em?

Wishing on a star is absolutely right. Pintos just need salt. But, if you want you can use the same seasoning that you use in chili to season pintos. Personally, I just like some salt and bacon in mine (or just salt if no bacon).

And with cornbread? Oh MY! Yum!

What do those of us who are regulating salt do? Can we still make yummy pinto beans?

Here are my suggestions....

Use less salt when cooking....

Salt them in your bowl as you serve them, and your tastebuds will taste that shot of salt.

Also, use Iodized Sea Salt.

Sea salt has more salt flavor with less actual sodium.

Also a southern girl here. For a quick soak method, bring the beans with enough water to cover about 2 inches to boil and boil for 2 minutes then let sit for 1 hour. Drain off that water and add fresh water to cook. I love pintos cooked with ham but I also use ham bullion and onion to flavor them.

I use sea salt. It has better flavor. I had no idea there was Iodized Sea Salt. I need all the iodine I can get. I take supplements for my thyroid.fibroid problems. I also didn't know it was less sodium. Thanks! :thumbsup2
