pins for trading

Hey all,

Well, as I predicted, both my mother, my sister and my husband succumbed and jumped on the pin trading wagon during our recent trip to the world (trip report posted on that board...our trip 09/27-10/04, coronado).

We are planning to go back, but not until our 10th ann. in 2010, so I have plenty of time to actually amass some traders this time, so we aren't forking out $6.50 US for the pins (trust me, customs really shook their head on that one...yes officer, I said $200 US worth of pins...)

So, to all my fellow friends north of the border...where do you get your pins for trading when you visit WDW? Of course all the pins we purchased we want to keep, so we are no further ahead in the trading game. I have searched a little on ebay, but I'm still wavering on what to buy, deals etc.

Any help would be appreciated. And we missed the Toronto meet as we were in the world, so anxiously awaiting the next one to meet some of you guys in person!!

You can get some good deals on ebay... around $3.00-4.50 USD if you're willing to buy 15 or 20 at a time. Shipping still to be added too! I always say I will do that, but in the end I never so far.....

The kids lanyards are full after a few trips now, and they enjoy trading more than collecting, so when they get something 'special' (special to them) that goes in the pin trading fanny pack that mom or dad wear until they get home.

And of course each trip we add a few (a few too many, like 10-15), so keeping an ample supply to trade never seems to be an issue.

I've also thought that if we just buy a bunch from Ebay (or some place else) that the fun of finding them at WDW and trading them with the CM's may kind of go away..... I dunno... just a thought.

We have been lucky so far in that my first big batch was 2 years ago when the Disney store put them on sale and now this great find of Scratch's and MaMudducks with the friendship pins that were $1 each. Now though I think we are also going to have to watch for big lots of pins on E-bay to keep the cost down and the addiction alive.

Yeah, it wasn't our find......it was just us the went crazy buying them. Scratch - "It was like someone yelling there's GOLD in them there hills"

Was I the first one to start trading those pins, Janet? Can't remember.

Anyway the only CM who checked the pin out for the "Disney" trademark on the back was at the booth outside Canda in Epcot.

They were probably from Winnipeg and wondered how they came into circulation!LOL

Sorry for jumping in the middle here but.....what were these $1.00 pins? Where did you get them? Are the authentic Disney pin trading pins?

They are the "Pooh Friendship Pins" and were found at a dollar store by sheer luck. A few dis'rs bought out the stores entire supply I believe. I just got back and traded 100 of these but now i am back to square one and paying the higher prices.

I phoned my "Source" this afternoon and unfortunately he has not been able to find any more at this time.

The Good News, he is still looking!

Quadman ~ These were found by a fellow Dis'er whose sister lives around the corner from this dollar store. She had posted asking whether or not they were ligit. As it turns out they were!
I had originally posted if anyone was interested but only a few had replied. We bought out his entire stock!

Apparently the Event was Cancelled by Disney due to the Dispute with Pooh! The pins had been made and Disney did not buy them! But We Did!
