Totally new to pins but my DDs were given some free ones fairly recently at our local Disney Store (as part of the Princess promotion) and it's kind of got me interested :lmao::goodvibes.

I *think* at the moment, I'm probably only interested in getting Princess pins and would probably want to buy 2 of each (one for each of my DDs).

I sadly missed out on last month's Rapunzel Gondola pin and am so disappointed. Will think about getting 2 in the future but the value now is just so high :scared1:.

Could anyone give me any helpful hints on good pins to buy at DLP and where is the best place please? I think when I say good, I'm meaning LE pins that may (or may not :rotfl2:) become collector's editions as I want to build a collection up for each DD if you see what I mean? I'm sure though I'll also get tempted by pins that just look nice to me :lmao:....

Thanks for any help - feel free to PM me if someone would rather do that :thumbsup2

Pueblo Trading Post. That's the only dedicated pin and Vinylmation store in Paris.

It's only open on weekends apparently and sometimes not even then, but they do have the best selection there. Also the store in Hotel Cheyenne does have a nice selection of older LE pins.

Are you just buying keepers only or are you planning to trade online or with CMs in the future? The answer to that will determine my more or less lengthy reply. ;)

In any case, there's a really nice open edition Rapunzel pin available in Paris that I can only recommend. I got some for my friends in the US and they were all crazy about it.

Hi Vala

Thanks for the reply :)

I've not heard of the Pueblo Trading Post? Where is that? Adventureland? Sadly on our trip we will be there midweek so I doubt I'll get a chance to go if only open weekends :sad2:

I presume there are some pins to pick up in most of the shops though? I've never actually looked at them before so couldn't say from past experience.

I think at the moment, I'd be buying Princess LEs just to collect for my DDs but I'd imagine as you get more into it, you may decided to trade etc. To start though, I'm just wanting to be selective I guess (ha ha, I'll get to DLRP and be buying every pin in sight that I like the look of!) :rotfl2:.

I have seen a lovely Rapunzel one ebay from DLRP (although don't think it's LE) - I'm hoping it is that one you are talking about as I'd love to get one for each of the girls if still available in June :wizard:

I always check out the store in Frontierland opposite the shooting range and BTM, I have had LE pins in there and in the Disney Store in the village, the LE pins aren't on the display racks they're kept behing the counter, you need to ask what they have.

Might be worth checking the ToT shop too if there is something specific you're after, 1 year I'd searched both parks and village looking for a LE Villains Christmas event pin, hardly anyone knew which pin I was after or if they did said it was sold out and then I wandered into the ToT shop waiting for my sister and there it was in a display case :lovestruc

I only buy Maleficent pins BTW so I know beforehand if I'm going to get a new pin or not and I don't trade.

There are however hundreds of pins on display in almost all the shops in the parks and village, you'll be spoilt for choice. :goodvibes

Pueblo Trading Post is on the right side when you walk to the Indian Village playground, after Cowboy Cookout. It pretty much looks like a pile of large stones set up, now that you mention it I'm not even sure if it has a sign.

Generally pins are in most of the shops, yes. If you're only looking for LEs those will be in glass cases on display, mostly behind the counter.

Harringtons does have a pretty decent selection, and also there's often a trade board out there in the evening. They have special sections - open edition for open edition, LE for LE etc. I've had a few good princess finds there.

Paris only had two LE Rapunzels. The first one sold out pretty fast and the other one was an event pin. If it's affordable on ebay it's probably the open edition one. ;)

Oh, and about the Tangled Gondola... you've heard what mess that release was? Things online went horribly wrong. They ended up creating a huge chaos there. Even if you got through sometimes you didn't get the pins. They withdrew some of the pins from the stores to solve most online problems, so most stores were usually out after the first customer. I've done pin releases for over 5 years and that one was one of the worst ever. It is a pretty pin, but not worth the stress and heartache it has caused.

Thanks Jill :goodvibes

So, basically, if I want an LE pin, I will have to ask if they have any behind the counter as they probably won't be out? That seems a bit odd?

I know the store you mean in Frontierland, I'll check it out thanks. I'm thinking that because I'm after Princess pins that the store in the Castle might be a good place to try? But as you say, sometimes pins probably pop up where you wouldn't expect :goodvibes.

I think it probably is a good idea to limit your theme of pins to begin with as otherwise where would you stop? Before I know it I'll be mortgaging for not only a DLRP trip but also for the pin buying :rotfl2:.

I bet it's fun buying Maleficent pins - good theme! :thumbsup2 I'm beginning to wonder if I might be better to limit which Princesses as there are 10 now! :scared1: Perhaps rather than buying 2 of each 'any old princess' pin for each of child, pick 2 of their favourite princesses (which would be different with each girl) and just get those pins? It also adds variety to their collections. Does that seem a good plan?

So far I have only bought pins for my girls (and myself of course:goodvibes) that I think they would like. We have some pins from Paris, some from the disney store and another odd few I have bought on ebay when looking for specific characters for their collections.

They really like having their collections and I have been thinking that pin trading might be an interesting way for them to add to them, not sure how easy it is though.

We tend to get a new pin for each daughter on each trip and at christmas, the character will reflect their favourites at the time so their pin collections tell a story of how they have changed as they are growing up:goodvibes

I´m a little bit astonished as I never thought that they have pins at the Pueblo Trading Post nor that the shop is still open. Guess I´ll have to have a look when I´m at DLRP next month.
And yes it is very odd to asked for LE Pins..on the other hands site you now will get some nice LE Pins from WDW or DL when you see them at the frames at some shops.

Thanks for all the replies - at least I now know where Pueblo is :lmao:.

Vala - I had seen something online about issues with that Gondola pin. What a nightmare :scared1: No wonder it is treble the original value now then! I had one in my hand at my local Disney Store when it was first released and put it back on the shelf :scared1:. To be honest at the time I wasn't that bothered about the pins - it's only since they have been given a few from the Store that I am now thinking more about it - how silly am I!!

Joth - that is a lovely idea actually :lovestruc But the problem is with my girls, they would change their minds constantly and like quite a few characters - not just Princesses so it could get messy :lmao:. I suppose I could start with the 2 most fave Princesses now and then move on when they do.... that would work :thumbsup2

Thanks Jill :goodvibes

There is going to be a glass display somewhere where you can check out what pins they have. Then you tell the CM at the cash desk what you want and they will send someone to pick the pin up. Can take a while, especially if they send a CM who has no clue of pin trading.

It was closed for the longest time. They did a huge re-opening as pin shop early last year, I think it was March. If you're looking for other traders they're now at the benches near the Pueblo Post, I haven't seen anyone at the old Plaza location for months now.

Eeek - you had one in hand! :o

Actually the prices came down already. Directly after release I've seen auctions go over 50 pounds.

Our collections are quite messy. Between them the girls have pins with minnie, tinkerbell, snow white, belle, rapunzel, eeyore, pluto, chip and dale, peter pan, lady and the tramp. But their collections reflect them and they are happy :goodvibes At one point the older two were desperate for angel pins but at the time we couldn't find any.

Thanks for that advice. I was really a little upset, that the "Old" Shops didn't had that much Pins anymore.

I know re the Gondola pin Vala, but hindsight is a wonderful thing :rotfl:.

Joth - sorry, I didn't mean messy to look at - I primarily meant messy to choose a pin in the first place if we don't 'limit' the characters, not to mention messy financially for me ;).

Glad this post has helped others out too :goodvibes

No problem, it would make choosing easier if they collected one specific thing but children always have their own ideas:rotfl: Luckily so far the girls have always had a favourite piece of character interaction from a trip or a new favourite character so choosing hasn't been a problem. Plus santa always makes a couple of choices too :goodvibes

Glad I could help. I remember in March - we were getting Buzz Fastpasses and met an UK trader that had patiently been sitting at Plaza and wondered why no one showed... we sent her to Pueblo and she was very glad she found us.

I agree. Getting Pueblo was definitely an improvement. Now if only it would be open more regularly!

does anyone happen to know the RRP for the LE disney store pins?

The UK ones? Depends on the edition and style. The LE 150 online exclusives are 9 pounds. The other releases have been varying between 5 pounds (for the more simple designs) to 7 pounds. 7 pounds seems to be the standard now.

thanks, from looking at the one pin they are currently selling I was guessing around the £7 mark.
