Ok, I am new and going to WDW for the first time in May. What is up with the pin trading? Where do you get them, and who do you trade with? I know nothing about this. It sounds like something my 5 year old would enjoy. Maybe even my 12 year old? So any tips would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

DS5 took to pin trading like a duck takes to water. Pins can be obtained in the park. Many people buy pins online or at Disney outlet stores to save money. These pins can be traded with other guests, but mostly with cast members.

Most cast members throughout the park wear lanyards with pins. They have pins you want. If you have a pin they don't have, they will trade you. Some cast members wear a green colored lanyard which is exclusively for trading with kids(12 and under, I believe). Its a another great way to get kids to interact with people(break down the possible barriers for later character interaction ?).

So get yourself some pins and get to it. Lots of fun to be had.

WDW has a site about pin trading because its so popular. http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/index. At this site you can visit the online pin store, see new pin releases, and see the upcoming pins that will be released and perhaps plan on looking for those pins during your visit.

On the home page there is a section called "Get Started!" http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/page?id=getStarted. It can answer a lot of your questions.

Enjoy your trip to WDW and I hope your child has a great time pin-trading!
