My children are interested in pin trading when we go to WDW in September. I have been purchasing some pins on ebay for reasonable prices to get them started. However, I am not sure if I know all I should know about pin trading and haven't been able to find out much information on the ins and outs of this and the proper "etiquette" that may involved. The cast members trade with you no matter what, correct? How about trading with others - what is the "right way" of doing this? Any tips and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can trade with any CM wearing lanyards. Some people will also trade look for the lanyards. Each pin must say Disney on their backs.  party: party: party: party:

The only time a Cast Member can tell you can not trade with them is if they have the pin on their lanyard that you want to trade them.

CM's wearing green lanyards will only trade with children :)

Your kids are are going to LOVE pin trading! My DD5 was completely obsessed with trading in March. Maybe I'll try it next time :thumbsup2 .

My DS7 just started trading for the 1st time on our trip to DL last month. We bought a starter lanyard with 6 pins on it for $24.95. He had a great time looking for CMs with lanyards to trade with and even worked up the courage to talk to two adults who were happy to trade as well (and even gave him an extra pin--spreading the pixie dust pixiedust: ).

When we got back home I bought a lot of 42 pins for something like $85--the quality was definitely suspect and I ended up sending them back. If you're looking for some cheaper pins to build up a nice trading collection, you could try the Disney Store or disneyshopping.com. The Disney Store has some Pirates pins that are $7.50 for 2 of them and you can get sets of 6 pins for $24.95 on disneyshopping.com. If you make a $60 purchase on disneyshopping.com through tonight, you can take an extra $15 off. You'll also get a free towel for spending over $50--and--if you spend more than $75, shipping is free.

Well first off I must say Pin trading is an awesome experience, I started when I was 12 when I went on my Disney Cruise. Cast Members, have to trade with you if you ask. Trading with other traders, of course they can decline to trade with you. There are certain values to pins as well, the limited edition pins and the regular pins (the pins you see every single trip to Disney). Its a blast to trade, also CM's wearing green lanyards can only trade with children, just a tip! Also, when you get to the parks at the Pin Trading Central at that park there is a paper that tells you all the "etiquette" of pin trading. There is a Pin Trading Central at all four parks and at Downtown Disney where there is a Disney Pin Store. Also, pins that come in a set like lets say you get this set with a mickey hand, shoe, jacket and hat. That has to be traded all together. Hope your children have as much fun in the pin trading madness as the rest of us do :thumbsup2
