My DS will be 5 when we head back to Disney in December. Is he still too young for pin trading? Anyone else had their young children doing this and did they enjoy it?

DD was five on her first trip and really got into the pins. However, she didn't want to trade any of her pins away because she didn't have doubles. LOL! (The Easter Bunny got her goat, though, and surprised her with 15 pins from Ebay that were all the same one. Now she has to trade on our next trip. LOL!)

I would suggest figuring out an amount and letting him buy a few pins. However, don't be surprised if he doesn't want to trade them away, kwim? He'd probably be happy just having a lanyard with a pin or two on it...

Hi

Just returned from the world with my 5yo DD. Before the trip I bought several pin lots on ebay for DD to trade. Before we left she went through and picked some pins she didn't want to trade. Each morning we would put a certain number of pins on the lanyard for her to trade that day. When she had traded those pins she was done for the day. It was great, she only traded with cast members, who were very friendly. She traded mostly for princess, tinker bell and minnie pins. She even had a couple of CMs who traded her 2 for 1. She has a wonderful collection of about 55 pins between those she traded and the ones we bought. We are going to get a corkboard and decorate it with disney items and pins and hang it in her room.

It was also great because she met several CMs from different parts of the world and had some wonderful interactions.

I agree .. my dd is 5, and we got her into trading last yr.. So, we are looking forward to going this yr, as now she "gets it"! LOL

Our 4 yr old had a GREAT time with the pin trading this past Christmas for her first time at it! The only thing with that age and not with the older ones is that you need to watch a bit since they don't know any of the values of the pins, I wouldn't buy the real expensive or rare ones since they just love to trade whatever;)

I just bought my 2DS 10 pins each of dizpins to trade when we are there. I paid $1 a pin!! THey were VERY excited when they arrived.

My DDs were 5 and 7 when we went last Sept - they both loved pin trading. We're going again this Sept and will be buying them more pins before we go that they can trade.

DD was 5 last year and had a blast, she was having so much fun she wanted to trade her good pins, I had to hide some, LOL!

:confused3 Okay I,m a pin trader complete newbie! What where how. I have no idea what pin trading is but I think the 11 yr olds would love it maybe the 5 yr old.

Just a note of caution. My boys love pin trading but some of them come with really poor fitting backs. After a lond day at the park and the boys came back with half thier pins missing I started buying them the locking backs. Now they pick what their going to trade and we put the plastic backs on them for that day and as soon as were back i put a locking back on the newly aquired ones.
