Pin Trading Neophyte Question

We just returned a week ago from our most recent trip to Disney. Our two DS's (6 & 8) experienced pin trading for the first time. They traded with CM's only and I was surprised to find that each of them traded for a "rubbery" type pin with CM's. Granted, they are Disney pins (made in China) and each of them is a Mickey Mouse dressed in a costume (one is a pirate, the other one escapes me at the moment). My question is this: are those rubbery pins "official" trading pins? It was my understanding they are not. And if they aren't, why do the CM's wear them? I hate to think that my two traded "tradeable" pins for something they can't trade later. (Of course, they're happy with their trade, they picked them out afterall.)

The boys loved trading and it was the highlight of their trip.

Technically, they aren't supposed to be traded with cast members, but many CMs will accept them in trades from kids, not wanting to turn down a child.

I have traded them from CM lanyards. And agree they are not suppose to be there. But....
I really do not mind the rubber pins. The detail is good, hard to destroy and the color is always vibrant.

Thanks for your answers. I figured as much, both of my kids picked the rubber pins from a CM's lanyard so they obviously wanted them and were happy with their trades...so why is mom worrying?

These were sold in the park when they originally came out (that's where we bought ours), the park should recognize them.
