Pin Trading in the disney stores

Can't wait to pop into the Cambridge store and do some trading. Just received all the web exclusive pins from the Disney Store website. DW is so pleased with her new Stitch pin.

Which exclusive pins did you get? Was it Stitch in the rocket? My brother got me that one for Easter and I think he's lovely! :goodvibes

I'm heading to the Uxbridge and Harrow stores today, hope to pick some more up!

How'd you get on today? :)

Some really good pin collections on here - I'm almost tempted to take all my families out of their wallets just to get a pic of them all, but I won't as it would take ages to get them all out then back in again.
The pin board looks really good Masamune, and it looks as though you are like us and have some specific things to look for - as well as some that just catch your eye.
When we return in Oct I am planning on collecting the pins for each of the rides we have been on. Not sure how many that will be but I'm sure it will be a fair few.
One question for you all - have any of you found any good pin bags anywhere. DD bought the blue book for her pins, but once you have pins on each page it looks unsightly and doesnt close easily. DD and DS bought the backpack type bags, but these are very difficult to get the pins into - especially when you want to put pins at the bottom of the page.

That sounds like a fantastic idea about collecting pins from rides you go on, I imagine it could become quite costly though :lmao:

I'm looking for a pin bag too and so far I've only been able to see them on the Disney U.S. website. They are on sale at the moment, but with shipping and import costs I don't know how much it'd work out to be. I did ask in the Manchester store and they said that if the trading continued and remained as popular as it has done, they think we'll get pin bags over here soon! :thumbsup2

I got one of my pin bags from ebay (it is a Disneyland one) and my other I got from Disneyland Paris. It made me laugh that the European pin bag was waterproof!

I can confirm Meadowhall Disney Store is trading, the assistant looked really pleased to have someone who knew about it. She had a purple monorail pin on her lanyard too! Didn't do any trading, will wait til I get my traders out of storage and go again. Should be fun, I traded for the 1st time at WDW on honeymoon but only with CMs after buying some really cheap pins in the discount outlets.

I have an unofficial pin bag that i've fit most of mine in, although I dont think its designed to hold as many as i have in there. Mines more like a book, has double sided pages and a zip round three sides. Was cheap too, well, cheaper than the official ones and when I got it off ebay, the seller sold it with a bunch of pins already inside.

Got very lucky at the Uxbridge and Harrow stores today.

@ Uxbridge I traded for a fab 5 pin (different to one on sale) and the flying tinkerbell (which my sister will probably get) and bought the Mickey and Pluto LE, the fab 5 pin, and the sleeping beauty and cinderella pins.

@ Harrow I traded for the stitch, donald and mickey squares and one of the cast member mickeys (have 2 of the set now) and a nice easter mickey from disneyland. Then bought the mickey band leader and and the alice in wonderland LEs.

Sounds like a good trading day! :thumbsup2 One thing though, did they let you trade 4 pins from one CM? :scared1: Or have they got two lanyards in that store? Our Manchester CM's are sticking to official rules and you can only trade two pins per day per CM :)

:) That's exactly right. To begin with, I tried to stick with my fave characters, which is why I have so many Cheshire Cat/Jessica/Villain pins. I soon realised though that it was much better to just trade for anything I liked, so then my collection became very varied.

Some of my fave characters don't have many pins made of them (Gaston, Ratigan, etc), so I've made the extra effort to get the few that I do have of some of the more obscure characters.

:rolleyes1 Lol, I ended up going to the Manchester store after work again. I just can't stay away! I'm not in work again till Sunday, so I'll definatly not be heading into town before then. Today I traded for a cute Si (or Am) pin and a pin of Stitch that looks like he's climbing up the lanyard! I also got a Tink pin that shows Tinker Bell in a mood, sat on top of the letters "SNF". =P That stands for "So Not Fair".

I got chatting with the cast members about my fave characters, and I mentioned that I collected Cheshire Cat pins. He then told me that two girls had been in earlier who had Cheshire pins, but didn't trade them. Now I'm all anxious about some Cheshire pins possibly being traded in!

Was a good day! According to the manager at Harrow, the maximum is 3 for some reason, even though its 2 everywhere other than the stores, so I traded the maximum with one, and then the lanyard got given to another CM

I think I have that stitch pin! and I saw the tink SNF pin at uxbridge.

The Tafford centre are pin trading now, I went in yesterday to buy some pins though didn't take any pins to trade.

Yes it was Stitch on the rocket and I got the Mickey Sorcerer pin. DW's collection of Stitch pins is getting quite large.

I've been e-bay buying tonight :rotfl: Got myself two more Tinks pins which are adorable! I called at my friend's house tonight too and she'd bought me a TinkerBell locket pin too, which is very cute! :goodvibes

Don't think I'll be in any of the stores this weekend, I need to stay away and keep some money in my bank for a change :rotfl2: I think it'll be a couple of weeks before I'm in next, when the Cinderella princess pin comes out I think - because there's no way I'm missing that one! She's my favourite princess

Jonjo do you know if they are definitely trading in Cambridge? That's our local store too, I think I'll take a trip into town next week if they are :cool1:

We were at Meadowhall today - have been away visiting relatives. We hadn't expected to go shopping so hadn't gone prepared with lanyards and traders - well the CMs there had some pins we just couldn't resist so my daughter and I ended up buying 3 pins to trade! :rotfl:

I've been buying a lot of pins for trading, as I'm worried that I'll run out of pins that I'm willing to trade before I even get to DLRP! I've been buying pin lots/booster sets that work out at around £1.50 per pin, so I've not been splashing out too much.

That's a really good idea :thumbsup2 I was on there looking yesterday and seen a Cheshire Cat one and it reminded me of you :cutie: Quite a cute pin it was too! What do you type into ebay to find the sets? If you don't mind me asking!

My Dad got me some of our core pins from store the other day for us both for when we're on our trip next year. He said we can keep putting them away and then once we're there at WDW we'll have plenty to trade with without giving any away which we like :goodvibes

I type in stuff like "Disney Pin Lot" and "Disney Booster Set". Like I said, I've been making sure that I don't pay over £1.50 a pin, so I've managed to find some real bargains.

The lot we bought yesterday was 25 pins for the Buy it Now price of £29.99. The P&P was £3.80, so it total it was £33.79. If you divide that by 25, it works out at about £1.35 each. :) Me and my mum are going halves on that lot, so we'll get 12 pins each and we'll toss a coin for the last one. All the pins in that lot are fully tradable, so it was a very good deal.

Buying a pin lot seems like a good idea I would like to get some cheap pins to trade. I'm going to DLRP in a few weeks, and I'm considering buying 12 or so of the core pins from here, and taking them with me trade.

Thing is to be honest I have no idea how popular pin trading really is over there as last time I went to Paris in 05 I was a poor student and only bought about 4 pins on the entire trip. I never paid attention to if pin trading was popular or not there.

I just got the cutest little pin in a trade in the disney store today, its a monorail pin this one on pin pics - 36554

I have pin traded lots of pins in DLRP. However it tends to be the CM's in the shops (in the parks, hotels and Disney village) that have lanyards on rather than the CM's on the rides and walking around the park. I have got some really cute pins from there though.

For my summer trip to WDW I have 50 regular pins to take and 10 LE pins for trade. But there you can trade from books and boards in the hotels as well as do more trading around the park. I probably won't trade all those pins, but that is what I have in my trader bag at the moment. I have bought some core pins to take to trade too, I though £3 a pin was quite good compared to the US pin prices.

Pin trading is nowhere near as popular in DLRP as WDW. In fact when we were there in March we had trouble getting some CM's to show us their pins and a few even refused to trade as they didn't want anything we were offering! They are actually not allowed to refuse a valid trade but we had difficulty explaining that.

However, don't be put off, there are still plenty of CM's that are happy to trade and I'm sure you'll be able to get through a dozen or so trades. If you are going for the Hidden Mickey or Cast Lanyard pins you should find plenty of the older WDW and DLR pins.

 Wow, I've never heard anything like that. I personally have never had any problems trading at DLRP. I admit that the language barrier can sometimes be an issue, but it's quickly resolved just by pointing at the CM's lanyard!

:) I'm really excited for the Pin Trading Night at DLRP next week.
