Pin Trading in the disney stores

I'd be able to make the later pin trading hours, but only on weekends :) Work commitments wouldn't allow me to reach them during week days.

Called into the Oldham store today and was made up to grab myself another of the Cast Member Mickey's! I was soooo excited when I saw it on the lanyard :lmao:

Wow, good for you finding the cast member Mickey, I lost one of them yesterday :( he was on my handbag when I went out and not there when I got home :( I'm not going to get overly upset about it but still I was quite sad when he wasn't there anymore.

As for the pin trading mornings I definately think that Saturday mornings are not the best time. If you're up early all week then you're reluctant to give up the one day you don't have to be for pins.

I definately think that it needs better advertising, in the stores and online somewhere around the pin section.

We have - or did at the weekend, some cast member mickey's left.

Yeah, don't blame you on the early morning, I feel the same. I'll make sure we look more at afternoons.

Advertising is my bugbear too. I think it needs more. Feel free to email disney and comment on that ;-)

In my opinion and that of some of the UK traders that I have talked to in Dizpins boards, yes pin trading would be preferred later on in the day.

The pin trading hour that was trialled in store was an official thing but I believe that not all the advertising material was sent to the stores.

Aww that's a shame Andy has left, he worked in Dundee for a bit which is why I know him. Not been in the Chester store for a long time, have only been there 1 or 2 times. Thanks

Again, thanks for the feedback about afternoon trading.

Andy said to say 'hello' and he added 'awww, memories...cute' :-)

Sneak Peak pin!

Anyway, these are lanyard exclusive pins - Wave two. TDS Character Name Badges with a hidden mickey included. They are UK Exclusives and measure about 3 1/2 x 3 cm. However I have NO release date for them yet. These are samples. Keep an eye out but please don't bug cast cause they probably won't know...I only heard tonight and as I say we just know they are 'coming soon'.

WOW I love them I can't wait to see them in stores!!! You will have to let us know when they're coming along :D

Oh that sounds quite odd :confused3 I've never seen the letter pins without the letter matching the character on them! Which really is quite obvious! I'm glad you didn't trade them, probably best.

I'm not too sure that the UK CM's know much about pin trading other than the basics that they've read from the leaflet which was given out when it 1st began, it would be nice to know they are checking them as best as is possible though :)

I'm sure it's hard for the CM's to even get the whole pin trading thng let alone know how to look for fakes but I would hate for someone to trade for one of these dodgy looking ones and then find out.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Can't wait for these - they look awesome :thumbsup2 Thanks so much for sharing, do you know if they will have any e-mails about pin releases? can you sign up anywhere? It's such a shame they do not promote this more, that would certainly help increase the popularity of pin trading.

I went to our local store (Northampton) and the CM was lovely (she had gotten a call at 8am to go in on her day off as someone was sick :sad2:) and so very helpful. We asked to see the lanyard and again there were no CM pins :sad1: however DH (smart man :thumbsup2) asked if they had any cast member pins and the CM got another guy to check the safe and he brought out 3 x present ones (all but Stitch) and 1 of the uniformed Mickeys :woohoo: :yay:  :cool1: I was so happy - I was starting to think we would never see them :lmao: I thanked her and said she had made my day - little bit of pixie dust pixiedust:

Wow many thanks for sharing the sneak peak of the pins on here. Those pins look fab and I cannot wait to see them in stores.

I had heard that there were to be more coming out with hidden mickey's on them and these are stunning.

I am really pleased that the Disney store is looking at the pin trading and taking it serious.

You don't happen to know what the online pins are that are scheduled for release the weekend of the 25th? The picture is so bad that no one can make out what they characters are.

Many thanks once again

Yvonne

Just had a look at the future online ed. pins - I would guess the one on the left is the Dalmations underneath a bridge with the baddies in a car (as a slider?) going over the top! And DH thinks the one on the right is a bi-plane flying over somewhere! and I would guess it would be Mr Toad (can't remember if he ever got hold of a plane though!)

Those things are like Magic Eye pictures :lmao:

Love the new CM exclusive pins! I'll keep an eye out for similar ones! :thumbsup2

I'm glad someone thinks they know what the new exclusive ones coming out are, it's been bugging me since they released the 'preview' pictures on-line!

Looking forward to 'Bugs Life' pin this weekend! :woohoo:

Great pins I will look out for them!

Thanks for posting!

Glad everyone likes the pins

Right, I asked about these. The first is a Dalmatian Pin, it is Cruella driving over the river and the Dalmatians all hiding under the bridge. The second is Mr Toad flying his plane over the London skyline, taken from the last scene in Wind in the Willows.

Apparently the pics on the disneystore.co.uk are placed 4 weeks prior to release and are a sneak peak - which means they are left small. Two weeks before the release the Pin images become available on Disneypins.com (gone on today). The site is www.disneypins.com , click on Advanced Pin Search and change the 'Available at..' drop down to Disney Store Europe.

Hope that helps

Many thanks for that yes it has helped. The pictures have finally been updated on disneypins.com.

I have also updated the post on dizpinsboards.

I seriously can't wait to get a hold of the new Cast Lanyard pins. :) Hopefully I can get the full set, as well as some extras to possibly trade next time I go to a Pin Trading Night at DLRP.

Is it right on the Disney Pin Site that the Cruella/101 pin is only an edition of 200 pins? :scared1:

Does anyone buy pins from EBAY? I never know if they are fake or not?? Any tips??

There is a great thread on the collector board that has ebay sellers recommendations. I have found this very helpful.

There's gonna be a disney charity event for Christmas which includes a pin. If people are interested in hearing about it I'll give you the early heads up here. Let me know.

I'd be interested to know about the charity event seobaina :) Any info you may be able to give us would be great.

Ok, I just typed this up for a facebook UK pin traders thing so I'll copy and paste it here. Didn't wanna post it automatically incase there was no interest or it was old news...been away a bit recently. Anyway...

I'm not sure the exact dates but I think it's in the next couple of weeks. It's either end of oct/beginning of Nov or end of Nov. Anyway, keep an eye out for big plush (teddy) christmas trees going up in the stores, that's your cue.

The trees are going to be filled with £15 disney plush - a mix of the characters that you can normally buy in store. For a £5 donation, you can 'purchase' one of those £15 teds for charity. The plush is then given to a child for Christmas at a local charity. For example, in Chester, our plush will be going to our local hospital and to a hospice. With me so far?

Well, as a 'thank you' for donating the plush you get two things. The first is a tag which you fill out to a child and tie back onto the tree (it'll be tied to a teddy when delivered) and is what the event is all about. I like the idea and will be doing it for my niece and nephew to remind them of kids less fortunate. BUT...the second thing you get is for you (or whoever you donate on behalf of) and it's a pack.

The pack is a beautiful softback book on the Christmas Carol (the new movie) and in the middle of it is a gorgous 'magic wishing star pin'. I've only seen the prototype but it's lovely. The pin is pretty much as it sounds, a large christmas star with something on it like 'magic wishing star, 2009' - sorry but I can't remember if it's gold or silver. They are hoping this will become an yearly event but for this year, as a test, they are going to donate a max of 20,000 plush - and therefore 20,000 pins. When they're gone, they are gone and I/we think they event will prob sell out in two weeks. Everyone at the meeting was talking about buying two or three themselves because of the charity angle alone.

It's hard to describe but I've seen the prototype and I'd pay more than £5 for that alone without hesitation and that is ignoring the fact that you're also donating to charity.

I hope I'm describing it well enough for you guys to get the idea and get excited about it too. Feel free to quiz me and I'll try to answer.
