My DW love pin trading and was wonding if they do it in Paris?

If so....any suggestions.

Thanks

You will find the majority of cm's in all of the shops wear lanyards for trading. Unlike America there are not different colours for adults and children to trade from. The Cm's in Paris can be very picky and refuse to trade unless they like the pin and a lot will ask to choose the pin they get so only wear traders on the lanyard.
You will find a pin board which contains LE pins out for about an hour or 2 each day, normally early evening outside Harringtons on Main Street but sometimes the Emporium. Ask in the shop and someone should be able to tell you when or if the will be there.

All the CM's that had lanyards were friendly, mostly. However, quite a bit wanted to pick their own pins, one even threw a fit because I gave her a small one and told me that I needed to give her my big one. Basically, either have 2 lanyards( one for trade and 1 for show) or do not wear the ones that you like. I ended up putting my traders on the back of my lanyard, and the ones I like on the front of my lanyard to make it easy. My husband just carried a little trader bag thing and used those ones.

Other CM's did not care. We had great luck at our hotel, as one CM loved Stitch and my husband collects all stitch. They traded pins from her personal collection because she loved one of my husbands so much.

Most of the stores have a good selection. The pins must have a Mickey head back, and cannot be bent in any way. They also check for the "fake" pins. Not exactly sure how though. We always carry a magnet with us, most fake pins will stick to the magnet, real pins will not.

I only take pins that I want to trade, the ones I want to keep come home with me and go on display on our wall :)

I also seen the trading pin board at the world of Disney store in the village

I was in DLP in November last year and would be a trader in WDW. They do trade in Paris and they have nice Cast exclusive pins but some of the CM's are a bit funny and will ask to choose what pin of yours that they want and one even said they wanted to keep the pin I had chosen. It was a little weird so I emailed guest services about it afterwards and they are not supposed to refuse to trade or ask to chose which of your pins you want to trade. The same rules apply as WDW.

Ooh! Great tip about the magnet - thanks!:thumbsup2

That's so weird! :rotfl:
I was under the impression that none of the pins they wear are actually their own, so why would they care what they traded?
Are they as picky with the kids too? I didn't really want the lanyards using up so much of my luggage allowance anyway, so I think we'll leave them home. ;)

The magnet story keeps making its rounds, but that theory has been proven untrue repeatedly already.

Whats the best way of spotting scrappers Vala??? I'm new to the world of trading; so any tips or guidance greatly appreciated.:goodvibes

Pay attention. I know, that helps a lot, does it?

Often the colors are off. For the real bad ones yellow with a greenish tint was a dead giveaway. Rough edges. Also the Mickey heads not going to the edge used to be a hint. But the new generation of scrappers often doesn't have that problem anymore while genuine pins show it now. Weight sometimes helps, scrappers are often too light.

Most of the tell tale signs trickle away unfortunately. You can't even go by bad coloring, damage etc. anymore because for a lot of genuine pin releases lately quality control seems to have been asleep!

My 5 year old son was hoping to do some pin collecting / swapping when we go to DLRP next May. He has seen it mentioned online and is quite interested in it. When we were last there he was only 3 and so (obviously) had no interest at that time. He has started buying pins from the Disney Store website so they should (i hope) be legit. Any tips about how to approach the CM's? Would they be less picky with a young child than with an adult? If so, i will ensure that the ones he takes with him are duplicates or ones he is not all that keen on.

My daughter only traded once last year in DLP as the staff member was very rude and quite mean :(

total contrast to the way it was in USA :(

Most of the cm are quite friendly with trading. Only when it's very bussy in the shops the don't have time to trade. But if you see a pin you like to trade and wait a little or go stand in line then the make time to trade. In DLRP most of the traders let the CM choose the pin the like to trade and YES the are more alert about scrapers and not disney. The CM must trade just like in WDW and other parks the are not aloud to say no to you.

There are CM asking about special figures only villians or only vinylmation most of the time are those also the only kind of pins on the lanyard of the CM asking.

It can be that if you pick a pin from a lanyard and it's a limeted that a CM going to ask a limeted back. Again this is something you DON't have to do. If you don't want that so bee it for the CM. And if someone is making trouble just ask for his chef. the suppose to be kind and willing to trade.

In Frontierland is the Pintrading shop, Pueblo. in the weekends in highs season every day it will be opend and you can trade lovely over there most time there are other traders outside sitting and love trading. The CM of the Pueblo also plays sometimes little games where you can win a pin. There is also a board with pins for trading. There is the rule a limeted for a limeted a jumbo for a jumbo. Pin trading night for Pin trading night. And most time there are also Lovely event pins left over from events for sale. The CM working at the Pueblo are the members of the DLRP Pin trading team and the now everything about trading in Paris.

The pueblo can be found behind Big Thunder Mountain. When you got in Frontierland go to the right and keep BTM on you'r left all time and walk past BTM than you will find the Pueblo stray ahead the is a BIG Pintrading sign out when opend.
