I apologize for my absence. Ive recently started school and my schedule is driving me insane. I also left my notebook at home, so I cant put up any of the food reviews because theyre all in there. >.>
Anyways, more of the Magic Kingdom
Our next stop was Pirates of the Caribbean. We were a bit apprehensive about getting Nana on the actual ride, but she was determined that she was going to make it on. It was a bit more difficult than anticipated, but she was quite glad that she got on it. (=
^The only picture I took on the ride because I knew that they werent going to come out all that well, but I really like this one for some reason.
Then we had fun in the gift shop:
After that we walked through Frontier land and I got hung up on this:
I only have a point and shoot, so I messed around until I got the lighting right where I wanted it to be. I realize that with a DSLR it could have been fantastic, but unfortunately, I dont have that kind of money yet.
We then hit Fantasyland and got on Its A Small World. I absolutely loathe that ride, but its a classic, so we had to.
Then we made our way around to Main St. to stake our claim on a good parade spot. My grandma has her spot for parades and thankfully it was still available.
It was at this point that we got her a Pin Trading starter Kit. Shes been collecting pins for as long as I can remember and we thought that this would be a nice way to add memories to our trip (pin trading newbies for the lose). She wore her pin hat everywhere in the park. She had the original seven dwarfs pins from the 100 Years of Magic pin set (those were horrible to get) and she had them in a train around the rim of her hat, other old 100 Years of Magic pins (we were up at the crack of dawn to get them back in the day). She also has The Key. She told everyone she came in contact with about her key. She first went to Disney in 1979, she went on the highest level package there was and got this special pin to wear, designating that she was a member of the Magic Kingdom Club and it allowed her to do anything and everything in the park.
Anyways, back to the trip report
we had a great spot for the parade (and my camera was being very cooperative with me)
. We watched the Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade.
After the parade, we decided to leave the Magic Kingdom and head over to Epcot. The original reason we went to Magic Kingdom first was to get it out of her system as my father put it. In my grandmas eyes, Disney
is the Magic Kingdom. While I could give or take it, she loves just meandering down Main Street and taking everything in. She already gave up the first day of the trip so that I could go to WWoHP, so
Yeah, then we went off to Epcot.
Unfortunately, the monorail system was down so for the first time ever, we went on the bus system to get to the Grand Floridian. And what an adventure that was. Getting her into the bus and off of the bus went smoothly but was a bit of a nightmare
COMING UP: The second half of the day in Epcot!
What a great TR - I adore your grandma being 80 years old & wanting to go to WDW to celebrate
My kind of woman
I can only hope to have a granddaughter like you one day that'll take me to WDW to celebrate my 80th!
(and son, can't forget my son - he's here now

)
I hope so too!
I have a question - what did Nana do while you were visiting Swiss Family Treehouse? She looks so cute on the Jungle Cruise boat - I wish my aunt (who is 82) would join us on our upcoming trip. I told her she could sit in a wheelchair and just relax plus the weather would be cool and if she wanted to just sit out on the balcony and people watch (overlooking the Boardwalk). But she would have to fly out from Oregon and she hasn't flown in years so she is just too nervous to try all this.
She sat outside and people watched. She was expecting to do a lot of that on the trip (but we did a very good job keeping that to a minimum). There are a lot of great things for older people to do while the younger people go on the thrill rides. When we were at DHS (I apologize in advance if I call it MGM, thats what it was the last time I went), she watched Beauty and the Beast while my dad and I went on Tower of Terror. She also had ice cream and water while sitting in the shade waiting for the parade to start while I went on Expedition Everest. Off the top of my head, I think those are the only three things we were ever separated for. My dad and I went out of our way to do the thrill rides in Magic Kingdom during the late EMH so that she wouldnt be left out.
Also, feel free to critique some of the pictures. I mean obviously some of them are just meant to be snapshot images, but some of them I was actually trying to be artistic.
