On Jan 1st/ 08 I traded a pin with a castmember at Uptown jewellery on Main St. I thought it was the new 2008 year of the million dreams pin from the new lanyard. Just found out it wasn't

It looks the same. Only there is no wording on it/ It has donald and Goofy on each side . The middle is a circle with castle and a blue banner running across which is blank. On the 2007/2008 it says YOAMD.

Reading the back it say Exclusive Year of a Million Dreams pin. Could this be one exclusive to cast members?

We have won both lanyards from 2007/ 2008 so we know they are not complete matches to either.

Thank you

As you probably know, there were two versions of this Year of a Million Dreams pin. One has Mickey & Minnie, and the other has Donald & Goofy.

There is a known scrapper of the Mickey/Minnie version that has no text on the banner in between them. It is likely that the version you have is a scrapper/counterfeit. Check dizpins.com.

Well, I have the Donald and Goofy scrapper:rotfl: I wonder why Uptown Jewerly didn't pick up of this? That is where I traded the pin with a lecture that I should never let go of the pin .....

Thank you

That's a bummer, but still a keeper in my mind. I mean it's always something I'd remember from the trip....a story to tell.

Honestly I'd be surprised if a CM knew it was a scrapper. I mean with all the thousands of pins available, and the constant trading throughout the day, how are they going to notice 1 pin isn't legit? Unless they just happen to be a BIG time collector.

I don't blame the CMs. Most of them aren't serious collectors; they just do it for fun while on the job. They aren't up-to-date on specific scrappers. Some CMs know that there are scrappers out there, and that's about it. With the existence of thousands of pins and virtually an equal number of scrappers, it's practically impossible for anyone to keep up with them all. That being said, the absence of text on the banner seems like such a glaring error that any CM should be able to identify it as a scrapper. Oh, well. Live and learn.

I have an authentic Mickey/Minnie Year of a Million Dreams pin and a Pixie Dust Year of a Million Dreams pin. I got both of these pins by trading a CM for them. Since they weren't given to me as part of a Dream, they don't have any real sentimental value to me, so I might trade them away this weekend. They're not particularly rare, but, then again, neither are the Cast Lanyard/Hidden Mickey pins I've been collecting.
