pin display board

The corkboards are a great way to go, I think I paid about $10 for the big one, and you can buy smaller cork tiles for about $2-3. Those boards I got at WDW for $10 I think, but I like the big one better, I just have too many to use the little ones, though I like them for my collections (Christmas, Stitch, Cruise, etc). I've got about 4-5 boxes of pins I've got to put up still so be on the look out I'm gonna buy more cork this week and I'll post when I get those up.

I Make My Own Displays By Using Oak Wood (maple Or Any Other Kind Can Be Used) Cut Anywhere From 1-1/2 Wide Up To 5-1/2 Wide Depending On How Big Of A Disply I Want To Make. Next I Bevel The Front Edge About 22 Degrees On A Table Saw And Still Using The Same 22 Degrees I Cut A Grove In 3/8 From The Front And 3/8 Deep All In Line With The Front Bevel.
Next Get A Piece Of Plexiglass 1/16 Thick And Purchase A Plexiglass Cutter. Then Proceed To Cut The Piece To The Size That Will Best Accommodate The Pin Or Pins That You Wish To Display. (best To Lay Out The Pin Or Pins On Light Weight Poster Board First Cutting The Board To The Size That You Want)
After Using The Poster Board As A Templet Lay The Templet Over The Cut Plexiglass And With A Small Drill Bit Sized To The Pin Drill Holes In The Plexiglass For Mounting.
Next Go To Lowes Or Home Depot And Purchase Heavy Duty Felt Pads 3/8 Self Stick (they Come In Beige And Dark Brown) You Will Need These To Put Under The Oak So That It Won't Scratch Your Furniture And You Will Also Need To Put 1 Over The Hole That You Drilled In The Plexi On The Front (this Helps The Pin To Stay Where You Want It. If It Is To Thick You May Have To Cut It Down In Thickness. Now Using The Same Drill Drill Thru The Pad To Allow The Pin To Go Thru. Finaly Cut The Wood To Length.
All Thats Left Is To Mount Your Pins. Good Luck

I've been looking for a way to place pins in frames, but couldn't get around the whole pins sticking through the back of the frame aspect. So what are some of the ways everyone does this? By placing foamboard on the back of the frame? If so, how does the back of the frame with the sliding clasps attach with the added thickness from the foamboard. I'm sure there are several ways around this issue{I'm a little slow today} so any & all ideas/suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Disney actually glue the backs to the pins with silicon style glue to keep them in place.
I have recenly started using cork instead of boards as a backing which makes this easier.

If you are going to use boards make the holes first then put the pins in.- I broke a back off learning this.:sad2:

If you host the picture (upload) at www.photobucket.com you can then give us a link or use the insert image to show us it
I have seen a better description of how to do this and will try to find it
