dd 9 has this small red pimple-like thing on her face....it is very unremarkable but what has gotten my attention is she has had it for 2 weeks now and it isn't going away. She was finishing up a round of antibiotics when it popped up, don't know if theres a connection there or not. Had her putting polysporin on it, but that didn't seem to help. Now I just have her washing her face with ivory soap. She has scratched it and it scabbed up a couple times, but there is still the small red bump underneath. I was thinking give it another week and if it doesn't improve take her to the dermatologist, but if anyone has any idea what it might be or what I should or shouldn't be putting on it, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I have had these. I have had (ever since I can remember) something called cystic acne. I get pimples that are painful to the touch and feel sort of like a lump, but never turn white. (sorry to be so gross) It takes them sometimes 3 to 4 weeks to completely go away. Not sure if that's what your dd has, but I would give it a little more time since she just finished meds and see if it goes away. Not sure if this helped or not:(

kirstins mommy....did you ever find any med's that seemed to work well for your acne?

Proactiv Solution really works. It's the only thing besides prescription stuff that I've used that really works.

Actually, you can only order it from them. They have infomercials on all the time, or you can get it online.

Some forms of skin cancer do not heal or go away and look like a pimple. My DH gets basal cells. Not to scare you, but I would give it a few more weeks and take her to a reputable dermatologist who specializes in skin cancer. All my kids get a yearly check. She once told me she had a 4 year old with a skin cancer on her butt! basal cell is highly treatable.
