I seem to remember some posts about pillowcases being autographed. Can anyone give me some background on this? Do we bring our own? I assume it is for the kids clubs.?....

First off DCL has no official policy on this. It started by word of mouth. It really is dependent on who you speak to at the guest service desk if they will accept the pillowcases. Some report they had success, some report they did not.

The basic idea is to provide a pillowcase for character signatures to guest service and it will be returned to you (at guest service desk) the last night of the cruise. As I said...you may be able to do it, you may not...all depends on the mood the CM's at the time. It is something that was spread through these boards and has taken a life on of its own. I think DCL became a bit overwhelmed with everyone submitting things.....so just don't be surprised if they tell you no. Most people put the pillowcase/other item in a ziplock bag with sharpies and label it with their name and cabin number for ease in getting them returned. Some come back with many signatures, some come back with a few....as I said there is no real policy so you sort of have to take what you get.

I find half the fun of getting signatures is the actual act of seeking out the characters... sort of a quest....

We just got back from the 2/26, 7 night Magic. We had pillow cases and we dropped them off at guest services. We got them delivered to us the last night of the cruise.
They were very helpful with us, and we got all the major characters, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto, maybe a few more. IT was great and the kids were excited to get them. ( I gave it to them when we got home).
Hope I helped.

We were on the magic in 2002, and the kids club had a Goofy's Slumber Party scheduled on a day at sea. My two boys each received a mini-pillow and pillowcase (airline sized). The charatcters at the sleepover signed them (this party had Goofy, Minnie), and all of their friends signed it too. It is a cute momento, and the sharpie marker hardly faded at all in the wash. However, the pillow is now resigned to the stuffed animal pile....sigh. I'm not sure if Disney still does this activity, but look for any type of slumber party/sleepover in the description. Hope this helps! :goodvibes

We sailed on the feb. 27th Wonder and I dropped off pillowcases to be signed. No problem with guest services-they were very nice about it. My BIG problem is I forgot to pick them up on the last night. I called lost and found to see if they can be "found" and mailed to me. Has anyone ever had that happen? What are my chances of getting them? TIA

I remember a post just a few weeks back about someone else forgetting to pick up their pillow cases and they called and Disney found them and shipped them to her.

Good luck

I had prepared pillowcases with a photo of the Magic at Castaway Cay, my sons' names and our cruising dates/itinerary. Guest Services were more than helpful (Feb. 26 cruise) and our stateroom host left the pillowcases in our room on the last night. They make nice souvenirs.

I forgot my 2 pillowcases and called lost and found. They were SO helpful and kind. And, yes, they found them and mailed them to me, no questions asked.

When I turned them in to be signed, they did ask me how I heard about having pillow cases signed.

We were on Feb 26 Disney Magic and also turned in 5 pillowcases for my 3 kids and my neice and nephew also traveling with us. We had embroidered each childs name on the pillow case with the date of the cruise and the ships name. We put each in a ziplock bag with a sharpi in its own ziplock bag and labeled each with name and stateroom. We turned it into Guest Services the first night and the last night of our cruise our stateroom host hand delivered it to our room. It had been signed by all the main characters. What a wonderful souvenir and memory!!! No problem or questions from guest services at all!

Did you embroider the pillowcased yourself, or did you have someone do it for you. I would love to put my kids names on the Pillowcases, but don't think I could embroider it myself.

Also what kind of pillowcases does people use. I would think white ones would get too dirty. I have been looking for some Mickey Mouse pillowcases, but I can't find any. Does anyone have any ideas where to find any pillowcases with Mickey on them?

Thanks

We did this also on our last trip, I bought plain white pillowcases, washed and dried so they were shrunk. Took them to Things Remembered to have kids name and date embroidered. Turned out great.

We are staying in a suite on our upcoming cruise, can we ask the concierge team to take of this for us? I will bring pillow cases and markers from home, My girls would love this.

You can always ask...but Concierge may not even be aware that Guest Services does this as it is not an "official" DCL thing.

in lieu of pillow cases, i had t-shirts signed. we got mickey shirts, one for each of our DSs, and brought them to guest services, with the zip lock bags, stateroom #, sharpie, etc. i also brought a princess t-shirt and requested all the princesses to sign, for a souvenir for a friend's daughter (who wasn't on the cruise with us). since we knew she loved disney princesses, and thought it would be a neat souvenir, cuz she knew we were on a disney cruise! and she loved it! :flower:

I also bought white pillow cases...We did have someone machine embroider the pillowcases. I wouldn't have wanted to tried!!! Initially I was looking for mickey mouse pillowcases or Disney pillowcases as I read that kmart had them but I looked everywhere and had NO luck. So we designed our own and the turned out so neat and our kids LOVED them.

Hey! Here's another idea for autographs...we were on the 1/30 Wonder, and I went to Kohl's and found a HUGE collage photo frame (i.e., 16 x 20 or something like that). The mat on it was really wide around the photos, so I thought it would be great for autographs.

I tried, for the first two days of the cruise, tracking down characters, because as you all know--they are everywhere all the time on the ship!!! Anyway...we kept leaving it places, and I kept having to go back and try and find it. Finally, while checking with GS one time, I asked them if I could just leave it with them and could they have all the characters sign it!

They were so nice, and they told me that I would need to come back late on the last night of the cruise around 10 p.m. My husband went to get it about 11, and he couldn't believe it--every single space of that white mat was covered with just about every signature you could cram on there!

We even had the captain sign it during the time he was out meeting people in the Atrium. My husband said that GS told him that everyone had been looking at our mat and saying, "What a great idea!"

Now, here's the funny part...I got the idea for the mat off these boards...so it HAD been done before!! LOL!!!

I can't wait to fill it up with our pictures and hang it on the wall! What an awesome reminder of our cruise!

Absolutely fanstastic and 10 times better than the pillowcase idea (which in itself is pretty darn great)!

I just came back and we did have pillowcases signed, but oh how I wish I knew about the mat idea before! With well-chosen photos, the photo collage will have a much longer life than pillowcase. Kinda hard for a seven year old to cuddle up with though, mind you ;) but oh what a super idea! Future cruisers be advised. Just don't tell DCL you got the idea here...

Thanks for the kind words! Now, if I ever get around to actually PRINTING out the pictures to put in the frame---I'll be in good shape! LOL!
