Please pardon my ignorance but will plain white pillowcovers with different color sharpies parmanent markers do for the autographs ?
Thanks
Ash

This past August I used plain white pillow cases for autographs. I also included different color markers, but they also used other colors than what I had given them. Make sure you wash the pillowcases prior to them being autographed.

Yes - we inserted only the darker colors of the set of permanent markers so that the autographs would show clearly. One thing we learned on our cruise last week was that you had to go to Guest Services late on the last night to pick them up - they were NOT delivered to our SR as I anticipated. They turned out great!

Also make sure you tell them exactly who you want to autograph it. We had them mark all and we only got Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, Goofy & Donald Duck. We wanted the princesses too. We were a little disappointed but since they give them back to you the last night of the cruise they did not have time to get the rest of the signatures. :guilty: So make sure you specify that you want the princesses or whomever else - all does not cover all.

We also wrote our name and stateroom number on the inside in case they got lost. In retrospect, I wish I'd put some nautical stenciling on our pillowcases but DH talked me out of it. We had plain white with black ink. I'm going to give it another shot on our upcoming cruise and this time I'm going to use some colored stencils and markers. ;)

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do with the pillows once you return home. Do you cover them in plastic, frame them under glass as a football jersey is done. ANy suggestions would be greatly appreciated as my kids had them done on our last cruise and I don't have any idea how to keep them.

Thanks in advance. :earseek:

On our last cruise I had them autograph a photo mat instead. I found if you wash a pillowcase or a t-shirt they fade quickly. I put a picutre of the boys from Castaway Cay in it.
Here is how it turned out if anyone is interested

Hi all, I'm new to the signature thing since I dont' have any kids, but we will be cruising with my cousins two young sons in a few weeks! On a 4 days cruise, when is the latest you can turn it into Guest services to get signatures? Is there a limit to how many items you can get autographed? TIA!

Great idea, yogi. :flower:

I keep the pillowcases (on pillows) on the top bunks of my kids' bunk beds, that way we get to see them every day. On the rare occasion that anyone sleeps up there, I just put fresh cases on the pillows.

My DD sleeps on hers EVERY night. It's been washed several times and sure, it has faded a bit, but not a lot. She just LOVES it!!!

We are going to frame our pillowcase (we had one made out to "Baby Sheldon" in hopes of the near future). On my request sheet, I requested "all characters possible" and got the main characters - no princesses. But in the size that they all sign, it's pretty much one or the other. We got one for our niece with all of the princesses and they took up the entire case. We're going to have my mom stitch our last name on the side of the pillowcase.

I wanted to do more, but I thought two was a fair number. I thought it would be rude to ask for any more than that. We had three young cousins that we would have liked to do it for but thought it was much.

If the autographs fade from washing, that means it's time to go cruising and get a new one! :sunny:

Okay - please explain this as it sounds like something that I would like to do for my DS.

Do I just bring a plain pillow case to Guest Services and they will return it to me with the characters signatures? Do I need to provide the markers?

Will they do a t-shirt?

We didn't know about this on our first cruise, but my DD's shirt from the D Sea U was signed when she got it. On our last cruise, I bought two plain pink t-shirts for my oldest 2 (I wrote Disney Princess on it myself) and one with a picture of all the characters for my youngest, mini sharpies of various colors, and a note with room number and a request for who I would like on each shirt. One was princesses and the other two were everyone. I put them in a big ziplock bag. On the princess one, only the princesses who were available for pictures were on it. DD was hoping for Jasmine, but alas no. The other pink one had the main characters (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip...). The one with all the characters, and mind you, this was a small shirt being for a 2 year old, had LOADS of names around the picture! At least 20 or so, even Tink!! I did need to pick them up late on the last night even though they said it would be delivered to the room.

We just got back from our first cruise in November. I have two DDs 2 & 4. I was so excited to see about doing this and did just what was suggested here--a pillowcase in each ziploc bag along with sharpies and our name and stateroom #on the ziploc. I requested just Peter Pan characters on DD4 because she doesn't give a fig about the princesses but loves Peter Pan. The DD2 doesn't give a fig about ANYBODY or ANYTHING (!) but I just said any/all/whatever for her. I had drawn up and colored a Tinkerbell picture for the one and did iron on transfers of Disney characters with a big picture of my DD2 making a silly face with "Our Goofy" underneath it for the other. I was worried about GS saying they wouldn't do it, etc but they were SO nice and they were ready when I picked them up the night before leaving. I never even took a peek at them. We were so busy getting packed and then when we got home there was so much to do and so many little eyes around I just set them aside. Well, I got them out for the first time last week for ole Santa babe to stuff with pillows and put under the tree next to DD4's Peter Pan costume and my eyes just welled up. They were adorable. Peter Pan, hook, smee, tink, wendy all signed so pretty around the picture of Tinkerbell and Goofy signed REAL big under "our Goofy" picture with all the other characters (not princesses) around it. I just felt so grateful for these CMs doing this for me and my children, for nothing--no compensation, and it will be a treasure for them (I hope)as they get older and certainly a fond, fond memory for me everytime I see it. I hope all that request them don't take advantage and ask for more than they should and appreciate what they do get because I just think it was an awfully, awfully nice service. And I do so appreciate the people on these boards for letting me in on it.

First of all, thanks to yogibigdog for the great photomat idea...I will DEFINITELY be doing that on our upcoming cruise.

Second, if there are any doubters out there, this is the BEST "free" souvenir out there and it's SO easy. Thanks to the Disboards I knew about the pillowcase idea for our first cruise - they came out much better than I thought they would - they characters used a variety of the colors I'd included and they were well placed - almost too perfectly!

DH says my method takes the fun out of the kids waiting for autographs and he insists there's probably one cast member in back who does ALL the autographs when you turn the pillowcase or whatever in (He SO doesn't get the MAGIC!!!) but DD and DD are 10 and 7 and kind of over the whole carrying around the autograph book but they LOVED getting the pillowcase at the end of the trip.

For ours, I designed an iron on transfer with the "cloudy" image of the ship and in Walt's font printed "Grant's Disney Dreams" underneath with the DISNEY being that clipart of different characters forming the word. I know you know the one. I'd love to post a picture but I'd have to rob my children of their favorite pillows..

I had also done t-shirts with the same image and on the back used a picture of Castaway Cay and printed the names of the 17 children in our group. I made t-shirts for all 17 - don't know if I'll repeat THAT part again :earboy2:

All in all, the pillowcases are well worth the effort.

Oh wow. This will be so fun. So do you just drop them off at Guest Services the first night? Oh what to do, pillow case or photo mat. Maybe pillow cases for the kids, and mat for me? And is there a limit?

The CMs tod me it is limited to the amount of kids that are registered in your room

don't know if that is enforced or not

Thanks so much. I just wondered if I could get an extra set of Peter Pan siggy's for the little girl I babysit. She's a big TInk, and pirate fan. Thanks for all the info.

I am so bummed about this pillowcase idea!?!?!? Not that it's a bad idea - it's a GREAT idea and I'm just reading about it now - a month AFTER our cruise!!!!!! My girls would have LOVED this idea - especially my TINK loving 9 year old. We did do autograph books again but would love to do something new, like the pillowcases! Guess we "need" to cruise again soon....just for a pillowcase!?!? :-) Think I could send in a few pillowcases for signing!?!? Has anyone ever done this while doing the "world"...kind of a big thing to drag around BUT would be an awesome memory item!!!!!
